Track Editing, Daytona and NRO delays... possibly our fault?

Since re-subscribing to this group I'm still noticing people posting about Daytona, Track editing and the delays to NRO. Now, being blessed with a brain and a bit of common business sense, it may be that it's us that causing the delays and not Papyrus... I'm writing this as I think so excuse me if it's hard to read. It seems to me that a lot of people have forgotten one important fact. Papyrus in most cases are not the bad guys in the whole track editing fiasco. We know what the legal hassles are and they are from the track owners themselves, not Papyrus. Papy doesn't own Daytona so why should they care if we make it? Because if WE go about upsetting the track owners it's damn unlikely Papyrus are ever going to get a chance to make the track available in future sims. And considering they have all the tools and resources, they could make a hell of a better job that the rest of us! If we had released Daytona i'm sure the first people to get it in the neck would of been Papy and I doubt ISC are tech savvy enough to understand the Papyrus didn't supply us with file formats, we worked it out for ourselves. So they get pissed off with Papy and pull the carpet on any further projects. Now I'm but a lowley Brit who probably doesn't know the ins and outs of Nascar fully, but my understanding is that Nascar Racing and the NRO is designed to be a true Winston Cup Series sim. I'm told Bill France runs NASCAR and has a stake in ISC (who own Daytona). Reason makes me think that Papy can't do NRO without some sort of official link up with NASCAR and the France family. So, we go on chucking out ***Daytona look-a-likes and Mr France gets really annoyed. Being a business man, he thinks that because his endor***t of NASCAR3 or NRO makes it really attractive to the sim racers who will want to buy it. But, he see's we're making Daytona so he reckons that no-one will want to fork out cash for the official one as they've already got it. Hmm.... This won't make him money so he talks to Papy. But Papy can't stop us editing tracks because we've cracked the format. So he decides not to let Papyrus use Daytona and may even refuse to give NRO or NASCAR3 any endor***t at all. Without endor***t, Papyrus may not sell as many copies of NASCAR3/NRO as was planned. And all that development work that went into NRO or NASCAR3 is wasted, Papyrus have lost money and therefore may lose face with Sierra or worse, may have to cancel future projects until they can recover the loss. Now this is for one track! Imagine if they same happened for other tracks or series sponsors or even teams?! These are my thoughts and it's probably overblown but for the sake of an example I thinks its a reasonable scenario. All I'm saying is that one person trying to hack Daytona together may think that he's a real star for going against the rules and thinks he's going to become a sim racing legend or martyr for doing it. But IF futre Papyrus projects, possibly even NASCAR3/NRO are scrapped because of his actions, he'll have rather a lot of people wishing he was dead. And yes, business deals can be lost on such fickle details as the above - the company I worked for recently lost a big contract for the sole reason that we we're 50miles further away than our nearest rival. I agree, but the fact remains-- Daytona will never be supported as long as Sega has the license. So even though Jed, you may think that it's our fault, sometimes there is no way. Even though NASCAR gives us Talley, they won't give us Daytona just because it's on the Sega game. Hey, hey---weren't you the one who forgot to answer a lot of our emails for a few months, and the guy who contributed to the Daytona Project as well? :>) Have fun!!!!
