Is the Mad Catz analog steering wheel durable? How does it compare to the more costly ThrustMaster T2 and GP2? I'm searching for a steering wheel to run w/ N2, GP2, and NFS. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------- Walter Shwe Yolo Mental Health Consumer Action Network (YCAN) 916.753.2075 fax 916.753.2076 ----------------------------------------------------

I race on a Mad Catz and don't have any problems, however I have never tried anything else. Also the place I bought it from had a demo setup of Nascar2 with the Mad Catz wheel installed and the spring in the steering wheel was broken. It still worked, it just didn't center by itself. The guy working there said he liked it that way though. Daniel Hobby (using my girlfriends e-mail account)
If you are going to use the Mad Catz wheel/pedal setup you better enjoy taking it apart to install new elastic bands or whatever they are for the steering wheel. It is a massive pain in the ass. The elastic bands wear out and tear apart very quickly. Finding replacement bands is an exercise in shear futility. I have resorted to using two ***s and they still haven't ripped -- two months later. The old elastic bands shredded themselves within three weeks. Also the bolts in the pedals like to unscrew themselves, giving you another headache, so you have to tighten them up once in a while. Mad catz works fine with GP2, ofcourse until the bands wear-out, but I find it useless with ICR2. There is no auto-centering, so even on a straightaway you have to fight the wheel. Try racing the long meandering highspeed straight after turn two at Elkhart Lake -- it is an abysmal exercise in keeping the car on the road. Would I recommend Mad Catz? Never, not even to my worst enemy. Save up some money and buy a T2 or the latest one with gear changes and accleration/brake levers on the wheel. >> Is the Mad Catz analog steering wheel durable?
