I ran out of gas on the last lap of talladega, while on the lead lap.
After getting towed in and a splash of gas I crossed over the stripe and
finished behind all of the cars down a lap. (From 1st to 32nd)
Is this the correct way of scoring or is it another bug?????
Hell I would have pitted and finished 16th if I would have known.
To be honest, this sounds about right to me.
Well now you know :-)

Had you seen the white flag while running at speed? If so,it sounds
like a bug, but it's too early in the morning for me to completely
wrap my mind around this problem. I can't come up with any explanation
for it, though, so it sounds like a bug.

car must cross the start/finish line under its own power...

You're right Dave. The same thing happened to Bill Elliott last year -
Michigan I think. He ran out out gas and one of the Bodines gave him a
push back to the line. He was only credited with the last lap he ran under
his own power.

Driver A = the leader and takes the white flag to START the last lap.
Driver B = same lap as A
Driver C = same lap as A
Driver D = 1 lap behind A
Driver E = 1 lap behind A
Driver A runs out of gas and coasts to a stop on the backstretch (what a
shame).
The finishing order would then be (if no other passing):
Driver B = winner lead lap
Driver C = 2nd lead lap
Driver A = 3rd -1 lap
Driver D = 4th -1 lap
Driver E = 5th -1 lap
Ok, I'm curious about this. What if?
I am on the last lap and on the lead lap. I run out of gas and stop on the
back stretch, Get towed, get fuel and then cross the line under my own
power. Do I then get credited for completing all of the laps? It wouldn't
seem right if I did, especially if a lapped car passed me while I was being
towed. Anybody know how Nascar the real series or Nascar the sim handles
this situation?

It wouldn't matter (position wise) if a lapped car passed you (once)
while you were being towed.
(Suppose it's a 100 lap race, and you complete 99 (seeing the white
flag), run out of gas and stop on the back stretch. While being towed,
a lap car (which has completed 98 laps, and is on his way to complete
99) passes you. His race is now over (since he's seen the checkered)
at 99 laps complete. He completed his 99th lap AFTER you did, so
you're in front of him in the standings. The only question is whether
you're in front of him with 99 laps complete, or with 100 laps
complete.
My guess is that the answer is you'd be creditted with 100 laps in the
above scenario, but I don't actually know. Suppose that's a question
for Papyrus to ask NASCAR, so we can get it right... I believe that
currently if you are under tow when you cross the line, you don't get
the lap; if you're not, you get the lap, but I haven't tested it
myself.
