GP2 and Matrox Millenium bios 2.3

Just upgraded my Matrox bios to 2.3 and now when I'm in GP2 my pc speaker crackles and pops like crazy throughout the whole game, then when I exit GP2 the noise stops. I happened to have bios 2.2 zipped on my drive and reinstalled that and the problem went away. Anyone else notice this? Craig Marcho http://members.aol.com/cmarcho/

I had exactly the same symptoms, but I had just upgraded to ppro and lost my soundcard, so I put the problems down to this. I'll try reverting back to 2.2 sometime & see what happens. Ross.

On my computer the speaker-problem only occurs when starting GP2 in a DOS box from within Windows95. I think even when booting without starting Win95, but I don't remember this exactly. When I boot with the old DOS 6.22 (what I usually do for playing DOS games), the speaker doesn't make a noise. Hope this helps. Yep, exactly the same thing happened to me. I did suspect the bios upgrade but I couldn't check because I didn't have the old one to re-install.
