Hi, I 've been playing Nascar2 now for about a month and even tho' it has a few bugs, it's a great game! Now I haven't touched the setups yet, but if I race at opponents strength at 95% I can use the set-up that came with the game. I know, I know, but I'm not the best yet:) Well, anyway, I started a season, and If I have the opponents strength at 95% I ALWAYS Quail in last place. The race is different, I can run up front most of the time. Ever time I Quil last but run up front during the race. So I did a little something, I did the same track (Richmond) in non-season mode and at 95% I could quail up front and race up front, so...what's wrong? It seems to me that Quail in season mode is tougher than regular made. Or am I really that bad. Using the setup tha came with the game I would run about 10-15mph slower in quail than raceing. I did this little test at 4 tracks and everytime I could quail at the front of the pack and race pretty good, but like I said, when I do a season I quail last and race good. I don't know what to make of it:) Any suggestion? Matt

Dont have Nascar2 (dont have any Nascar), but I think I may have an idea what is going on. I may be wrong of course. Check how much fuel is loaded into your car for the qualification laps. I think what maybe happening is the other cars are reducing the amount of fuel they carry significantly enough to make them lighter and faster. Big thing to remember is cutting the fuel you use may not be enough. Since now you have a car that is lighter, you will need to adjust settings for your wheels and your wings. Like I said, I have never played Nascar2 (not even the demo) but it would make great sense to me. Of course, I still play GP2...so how much sense can I have. Nope, fuel is set to 22 gals in qualifying. -- http://www.netins.net/showcase/mpete/nascar.html Mike's Nascar World Stop on by, what can it hurt?

Hi gang, I race regularly on Hawaii in a 40% and 50% league and I was tired of trying to communicate to the pits via keyboard while battling for positions at tracks like Bristol, Martys, & Sears. I decided to give the verbal commander a try. Verbal Commander (VC) allows you to use speech patterns in place of keyboard commands. It took me about 1/2 hour to install and set up the commands. Now when I want to know my tire temps, I don't have to find the F4 button I just say "Temps". It also works great for sending the autochat messages without letting go of your wheel. The voice recognition worked well.. I ran a 40% on Hawaii and didn't have a problem. There are a couple of words the VC has a problem with. For instance I could not use the voice command "four" and "more". They were too close in speech pattern, but that wasn't a big deal at all. I ordered mine direct for $99. You can check out VC's website at the IVGA web if you want more info..... -- ::::::::#########::::::::::David Burton aka Vetteracer :########################::http://www.rust.net/~daland ########################:::"You have to first finish, :::::::#########:::::::::::before finishing first" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Qualifying requires a different car setup than racing. In qualifying, you're concerned about running one good lap on cold tires. In racing, you're concerned about running consistent laps for an entire fuel run. If you check out the setups, you'll find that there is a Qualifying setup for every track. Generally, those setups will have higher tire pressures and stiffer shock settings. The spoiler angle may also be lower. Even with all these adjustments, it's still pretty hard to run a qualifying lap as fast as your best race laps, but with practice, it can be done. Remember that you can also drive a lot harder during qualifying, squealing the tires, if that's what it takes to get a fast lap. In NASCAR 2, you must qualify with a full fuel load, just like in the real Winston Cup series. Dave Sparks IWCCCARS Project: http://www.theuspits.com/iwcccars/index.html Late Night League: http://www.sequoia-dev.com/Hawaii/latenite.html Hawaii Handle: davids

If you are using either Easy or Fast to race with, the Qualifying setup is more like the Ace. Qualifying is a tough thing to do. For one thing you are running with a full fuel load and cold tires. If you are using the default settings the game provides without selecting one, you are using Easy for Qualifying, I assume the AI cars are gonna use a Qualifying setup and will easily beat you. -- **************************** Michael E. Either I'm not reading this correctly or most of the responders aren't reading it correctly. I believe the real question being asked is why qualifying in single race mode produces substantially higher speeds than qualifying in championship mode? I would expect both modes to produce similar speeds. Most of the responses so far address how to improve this speed, but don't address why they are so different. The only possible answer(s) I could come up with were that: 1) Single Race mode weather can be random or constant and perhaps Championship mode is always random(?). 2) Can you single race either arcade or realistic but only realistic in a championship season? Couple questions, Does VC take any off from the frame rates? Do you run it in DOS or Win95? (Both?) It uses no software running on the host processor - so the answer is no. /THansen
