Don't exactly know why it works now..., but my buddy and I reinstalled
the game and our modem defaults in multiplayer came up with the init
string saying "ATZ^M" (the first time they came up with "AT&F^M").
Well, according to my modem manual, the "Z" has something to do with the
phone number, and error correction and data compression are ON (which
I've been told by the Papyrus people that they need to be turned off).
But, hey, this is the only way I can get the game to run (knock on
wood). We did a lot of hard racing last night and never had a single
problem. Maybe I don't understand how to read my modem manual, but
I'm not going to complain - it's working again!!
Thanks to all civilians who responded to my request for help. If
someone needs mine, email me or call 205-461-7434. A BIG THANKS to
JIM, ADAM, AND CHARLIE of Papyrus - we're glad you're here - thanks
for helping me.
And since the game is now running correctly again...thanks to Papyrus!
Man, this is the best game ever created. For those still having
problems, be persistent!! It is definitely worth it!!
