Hello, I am testing at Sears Point and am having a heck of a time keeping the car on the track. Can someone send me some corner speed to shoot for? I think I am getting into the corners to hard but can't seem to find good speeds to shoot for. My best time is 2:12. Obvously a lousy time. Any help is appreciated Thabks John

I'd like to just draw you a picture, and show you which gear to be in, But I just don't have the patience for ASCII art ;-). So instead you get some "General Tips" from someone who really like Sears Point. Practice. And STUDY the track. Nothing beats being able to see two corners ahead in Your imagination. Start looking for landmarks for Braking and Downshifting-Know whats ahead. Your times ///seem to indicate/// that Your not looking for speed yet, just the ability to stay on the track, and the only reason your off it now is cuz You aren't really sure of what's ahead. It's a looooong learning curve on the road courses (pun intended). Happy Lappin' Wade Tschida

Read thru the walk thru that's in the manual for the game. I read it and raced the car to the points they were talking about. I paused the game until I had read the next section. Then did this over and over again until the end of the race course. They are very nice to provide you with the gears you should be in for each corner. I am not a great racer, but this helped me tremendously. I can keep up with them now at 97% strength. Before I did this I had a hard time keeping up with them at 80% strenpth! --- () http://www.pacifier.com/~dtuso () Dominic Tuso () http://www.nicad.com/ () For you NiCd needs () http://www.teleport.com/~cramark () R/C car racing club () http://www.teleport.com/~lzwz/rcsr.htlml () R/C car racing club

I'm assuming that you got a rather better manual than we did in the UK then. The one we've got is pretty crap. Nearly 100 pages long but doesn't actually say anything much. The section on the tracks is pitiful with a small map and one or two paragraphs of general info about each track. The most useful thing it says about Sears is: "Sears Point Raceway is difficult for drivers to master". Yeah, well I think we could all guess that one for ourselves ;-)

Joe Farr has put together an excellent guide for Sears Point. Check it out at www.ivga.com and then select publications, then Sears Point. He covers each turn, lines, and speeds. It was done for Nascar1, but was very helpful for my preparation for a Hawaii race last year. I guess I should take this space to thank Joe for all of his setup guides and how much they have helped me on various tracks. Thanks alot Joe!!
>Quickly it is... Thanks Dominic - I'm now down to about 1:45 but it's tough. Those tin-tops just don't handle like an F1 car ;-) Cheers, Richard

I can get right around 1:47 usually. I can keep up with the AI cars in turns 1 - turns 7, but turn 7 - turn 11, they blow me away at 100%. I wish I could only drive better and had a better setup. I'm loose in 8, 8a, 9 then I start pushing in 10 and 11. --- () http://www.pacifier.com/~dtuso () Dominic Tuso () http://www.teleport.com/~cramark () R/C car racing club () http://www.teleport.com/~lzwz/rcsr.htlml () R/C car racing club

Disclaimer: I'm not that fast at Sears Point yet (1:43), so there probably is still a lot of improvement that can be done to these tips. Braking points: -I brake a little just after the bridge in turn 1, and then full on the brakes after straightening the car out in 1a. Turn 2 is a 1st gear turn on my slow laps, barely 2nd on fast laps. -For turn 3, I brake just past the bend on the right side of the track. I drive turn 3 in 2nd gear. -Turn 4, I brake just before the dip in the road at the entry. (where the slope changes). 2nd gear. -Turn 5, I just lift. 3rd gear -Turn 6 (carousel), I brake just after the crest of the hill. You can drive this turn like you would drive a flat oval. 3rd gear -Turn 7, I brake just before the first shutdown marker. You can actually brake later than this, but run a real danger of overcooking the turn. 1st gear -I'll skip the Esses and turn 9/10, as you just sort of feather the throttle and tap the brakes through this combination. -I brake just after the yellow line for the pit entry when going into turn 11. 1st gear -No braking in turn 12. I think I tend to brake a little late for some of these turns, so you might want to play around with the braking points a little. Obviously the braking point also depends on how much speed you carry into the turn. -Christian
