T1 + Thinkpad (to run GP2)...Can this work?

Okay, I seem to have a problem. This isn't really about racing simulartors. The computer: IBM thinkpad (a 700 or something, its my brother's). Has no gameport. Bad. Does have a serial port, and a PCMCIA slot. Is there a way to: A) hook up the T1 to the serial port and have GP2 read that port? or B) get a game port adaptor for the PCMCIA slot or may be even C) use a docking station to facilitate a game port? Any advice would make this Christmas much more merry. Cheers, Chris
