I bought a new mb with a Cyrix 166+ last summer in preperation for n2. Than i
bought the reactor vid card for the same reason. Indy safe worked but indyfast
was a no go. I tried all the usual boot disk dmadiag.exe and it always gave me
an exception code error. I was worried about n2 working in dma mode but when i
finaly got the sim it did work in dma mode but as it states in the readme file
the T2 does not work well with the cyrix. The car would jerk the the left when
raceing but worked good in svga mode. So why did i spend the money on a 3d
card and not be able to use it in 3d mode!!!!
I traded the cyrix cpu in and a few bucks to boot for a pentium 166 chip and
n2 in dma mode workes great!!! Indyfast even works now!!!

Another happy Cyrix customer. And people wonder why I am so critical of

I have N2/ICR2/GP2/etc, Cyrix p166+, Asus T2P4, Herc Stingray 64/video,
T1, and am very happy..."another happy Cyrix customer", go figure.
I to have a Cyrix 150+, N2, ICR2, T2 Wheel and have no problems at all.
Steering is a little more sensitive in N2 compared to past sims, but no
problems in traffic. I will be installing a Reactor card in a day or two
and expect a little more work in the compatibility area, but we will see.
I believe that most peoples problems are not in the hardware they
physically have but in how they set it up and configure win95 to talk to
it. To many times I see "I can't get this ***to work!" or "I have the
same setup and mine works fine!" The biggest variable then would more than
likely be the software setup. IMHO. Keep fiddling with it and learn!

All I ask is a chance to prove that money can't make me happy.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
I have a Cyrix 6x86 166 and have a Reactor on the way. Is anyone using
this combination without a problem??? Does everyone with this combo
have a problem in rendition mode? Thanks
I have a Cyrix/Reactor setup and everything works and looks great with one
exception... the joystick is real jerky (read: unusable) in renddma.
Keyboard controls work great (as great as they can anyway) in renddma and
it looks AWESOME! Frame rate is outstanding - all on with asphalt on auto
and min frame rate set to 27 and it stays on at all times (Dega with full
field). As soon as we get the Rendition-Cyrix joystick problem solved
(anyone out there with ideas/knowledge on the situation?) it will be
perfect! BTW - N2rend looks as good but frame rate takes a big hit - lots
of stutters and warps - but the joystick works fine with it - go figure!
And regular N2 works fine - good frame rate and joystick OK.
Here's the rest of my system info

I Have a new MB and a cyrix p166+, along with a new screamin 3d card.
The dma tests all crash with code op errors. ICR2 will not run in
indyfast but will run indysafe. I have had N2 run in renddma but the car
is so twithcy it isn't worth it. Can this be beat best with a new wheel/
pedal set or should I take the cyrix chip back and get the pentium?
That is what I did....take out the Cyrix and put a Pentium in. Steering
now smooth as silk.
Ron
Papyrus is aware of it (it's in the N2 readme). The question is if
fixing it is a high enough priority. For your own sake, *all* of you
Cyrix users out there should make your problem known directly to
Papyrus (not just here on RAS). No need to get militant about it, but
just so they know how many Cyrix users out there who have the problem.
From an uneffected but sympathetic new Pentium user who passed on
the Cyrix chip...
Pick one or more: Model Rockets (competition-NERCB) / PCs (even Atari!) /
Papyrus ICR-ICR2-NCR / Who needs a life when you have multiple non-lives?
I have that same problem but my wheel is uncontrollable in RendDma. I'm
running off my sound card, would a game card help????
Depends. If you are using an Intel processor, probably. If you are using a
Cyrix (like me), then it won't. There is a note in the readme file about
this. Hopefully, either Sierra or Rendition is working on this although no
one from those companies have said anything here.

is where the conflict seems to be creeping in.
I'm using a Cyrix 586-120 and in VGA the T2 drives well, but in SVGA,
there is quite a bit of wobbly driving.
