I agree...I liked the pit timer also. On another note... is there a key to cancel repairs (not that I need repairs much. :)) while in the pits? Someone asked about it earlier in the posts and I did not see anything on it. Please don't tell me I need to "read" the manual. Is that the little paper thingy that came in the box? LOL Go High! Go High! -Andy

When you stop repairs during a pit stop, your crew will complete whatever repair it's working on, but will not start another. (So you can't leave immediately, but you can leave within a couple seconds or so.) Did you not get a manual? I have to admit to not having seen the insides of a production copy of N2, but I thought pretty certainly we had a real manual in there... ---Jim Sokoloff, Papyrus

The pit timer is available in the arcade view, but not the in-car view for some reason. I miss the pit timer, but not for the same reason. In NASCAR 1, you could tell if you hadn't hit your pit stall right, because the timer wouldn't start up. In N2, you have to wait a few seconds and see if the air wrenches start up. Valuable time lost if you miss your stall. I'm not sure what it is that you don't get from "Ned" (actually Ron Gaines). In fact, I find the spotter messages more helpful, because he tells you where the pace car is on the track. When the pace car hits T4, bug out of the pits. Yes, there is a pretty nice manual IMHO. Actually, I should say I am REALLY glad there is a manual, with Sierra owning Papyrus now, I was afraid they were going to do what they did with EarthSiege2 and A-10 and not ship a manual, I had even promised not to buy Nascar2 if there was no manual. Well I am glad to say that I was not forced to have to live up to that, it sure would have been hard to keep myself from buying Nascar2 and I would have missed out on a terrific sim, but if we don't make our stand about getting a paper manual with sims now, software companies won't get the message until it is too late. I agree 100% ... didn't write about it because there seemed to be too many other important things in the program that don't work. The thing drives like a dream, but if you modem race which I do a lot, it's impossible to finish a >30% race without ending early because of endless errors that are going on. For example, I was on the lead lap third in line on a restart and the standings said I was in 9th place and it sends me back to the end of the lead lap a lot because it says I went down pit lane when it was "closed" when I never pitted. I could go on and on ... anxiously waiting the first patch.

..snip ..snip I Agree 100% with this! Good point, I have the same problem of not knowing if I have stopped in the proper place until the few seconds delay until the air-wrenches start up. What worse is if you are only doing repairs, its even longer until you actually hear the sounds of hammers, ect... It would be nice if the spotter were to shout something quick like "You're in" or "Good stop" or anything!<<Hint Papyrus! Ron

I would think since you > can now end repairs in the pit, to beat out the pack on the track, it seems > like a pit timer would be nice instead of relying on "Ned" > -- Mr. Gaines, I assume is who you are referring to, keeps you updated as to where the pace car is. If you stop repairs by the time the pace car is in T4, you should be able to make it out in time. Of course, you do not want to do that when the pace car is coming in and the field is going green. BTW, you cannot interrupt regular service such as tires and fuel, but the crew will stop immediately upon your request after regular service is complete. They also do not wait until regular service is complete before they begin repairs. They begin repairs immediately, at least you hear the hammers and saws immediately. David Martin

Who has time for READING manuals....I mean after all, with all the info in there, do you have the setups that will guarentee me winning the NRO(NO! you seem to have left those out...:) ) I suspect that manual reading comes after many many laps have been completed. Of course if you made your programs more BORING we'd probably take up the manuals MUCH sooner...hehe. Dave Henrie

writes: I think the pit timer is a reflection of our TV NATION mentality. Heck every pitstop we see on the tube has the timer spinning away, why not N2? Well, I don't recall Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt impatiently glaring at a stop watch while they are in the pits.. Once again, Papy makes the Sim a bit more SIM-LIKE and they hear about it. IMHO, knowing how long it takes to pit is good information to have. There maybe ways to improve your pit times even in the Sim (car position etc..). You'll never know it if you don't go fishing for it. Since my lazy crew chief won't record this information, then display it for me. At the very least, more information allows me to make more informed decisions. Mike Radler myyke on Hawaii

The pit stop timer is still there. You just can't see it through the ***pit view. You have to press F10 while making a pit stop.
