Hi,
I've just got my hands on a Viglen Pentium Pro 200 with 128 Mb EDO
RAM and a 4mb Matrox Mystique SVGA CARD (with a 29" hitachi monitor) and
I still can't run GP2 at full frame rate. I can get around 22 fps with
everything on in SVGA apart from SKY and a few other textures.
What was this game written to run on. I would consider the above spec
pretty much future proof for the next couple of years.
However the games is very stable and the menu options are very fast in
loading. So is switching between cars during a race.
Anyone run it on a better spec PC??

Amazing, huh? I was happy as a clam running Word and Excel on my P75. Then I
discovered racing sims and now I have to figure out how to justify ISDN and a
P200 that I can overclock to 225 until the P500+ machines get here.

Maybe Don Wilshe will run it on his 600MHz P7 and report back to
us... :)
Pick one or more: Model Rockets (competition-NERCB) / PCs (even Atari!) /
Papyrus ICR-ICR2-NCR / Who needs a life when you have multiple non-lives?
People are still playing ICR2 1 year after its release, people are/were
stil playing N2 two years after its release, people were still playing
F1GP1/WC 5 years after its release.....
Ignore the fact that you can't run with all details now. If the game was
released without all of the current graphics so that everyone could have
full details on with a P166 everyone would have said "wow" (rather than
***ing about having a half empty glass), but would have thought it
behind the times in two years. When I have my P7 600MHz or whatever in
two or three years, GP2 will still look superb and not like a crappy old
1996 game.... ;-)
BTW, you _could_ try overclocking to 233MHz (don't take this as a
personal recommendation, but it is possible....)
Cheers,
Richard

Either I can tell you lots of good things about N3, or it was a typo ;-)

Are you joking? My computer was state-of-the-art only two years ago, and now I
have to *bundle* it with money to get rid of it :-D
The game will run in full detail within a year or two, patience...It's an
ensurance to enjoy it longer than only a few months

When did GP1 come out? I played that game right up until gp2 came out.
My biggest complaint about GP1 was that the graphics were pretty basic
for my super duper 466dx2-66 (4 years after its release)
Time will tell.

I have a Dell P Pro 200 and I don't get even 18 fps when I turn off all
the buildings and all the textures on the remaining stuff. Any ideas?
There's a program called ... I forget, but it's used by Quake players
and is designed to enable a couple of features on the PPRO that are
disabled by default. Essentially it increases the video card thru-put
somehow. Check out some Quake sites for the utility, its free.

Forget I said anything if you already know about this.
