Why NFS so uncontrollable??

Hello! I've had NFS for a year now but I haven't actually played a full game. I find the game so uncontrollable using either the keyboard, joystick or mouse that it's frustrating. A simple touch of a left or right control and I'm in the dirt. Is there any kind of fix for this lack of controllability? I have a 486-66mhz system with an SVGA with 2meg video, and 16 meg RAM. Thank you! I keep coming back to this game to see if it's any fun but it never is. But it looks so good that I'd like to get it working for me! -- ---------------------------------------------------------- Lisa W. You want to know the fix? Get a faster computer! NFS will barely run decently on a 486 dx4/120 and really needs a Pentium 120 or faster Doug -- ===== From the desk of Doug Burg - My Unofficial "Need For Speed" page: -----> http://members.aol.com/speed1racr/html/nfs_main.htm <----- My current list of items forsale at AuctionWeb can be found at: "You can make $$$ or you can make excuses, but you can't make BOTH"

I disagree. Before I upgraded to my P166, I played NFS on a DX2/80 and it ran fine, but at lower resolution. The key is the kind of joystick you use. If you are trying to play with a digital joystick or gamepad, forget it. You need a good analog stick, like a Microsoft Sidewinder or Logitech Wingman. Then you will have precise control over the steering input. I agree also, Todd. I had NFS on my old DX4/120 and it ran super-fine full screen VGA, or small screen SVGA (whichever took your fancy). Cheers, Dan

If he has a Gravis Ultrasound that could also be the problem. Steering was nearly impossible with that sound card. The GUS can effect the joystick with many games actually. I switched to an SB Pro then a Vibra16 and NFS was perfect with both of them. Tony
