We want to see some old Nascars out there like from the late 60s and early 70s and also why haven't you made a good NHRA or IHRA drag racing sim yet???
Papyrus sells a CD with there "NASCAR tips " book. on this CD there are the classic cars from days past. I've never seen them on the internet but I would assume their out there.

I would pay lots of cash money for a stock car sim that had an extensive database/graphics like some other sports games - like Old Time Baseball, where you can pick the teams from thousands (1800's to present), and the era in which they are playing - e.g. dead ball era, or late 20th century. For instance, I could have Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Cale Yarborough, Richard Petty, Lee Petty, and Harry Gant battle it out in cars from 1979. In other words, pick from an extensive pool of drivers, and then pick the year that we're racing in... Maybe some day....
How about today? I think on the CD with the Nascar Racing book there is a car set of all time greats with all of the above drivers (maybe not Jeff Gordon) driving in their cars. Lots of fun! Kevin Marshall

There are all kinds of different cars on the CD. However, the basic shape of the cars is still the same - so they don't really look that good. /THansen
I myself would love to see a drag race sim. Maybe a super stock or pro stock car where there was a great deal of emphasis on the suspension ,motor, and gearing and not just top fuel where the object is to keep it straight for 5 seconds. I know it can be done probably using the model from nascar.

Maybe a super stock or pro >stock car where there was a great deal of emphasis on the suspension, >motor, and gearing and not just top fuel where the object is to keep it >straight for 5 seconds. I know it can be done probably using the model >from nascar. There seems to be a small group of people in this newsgroup, myself included, that are patiently awaiting some company to produce a drag racing SIMULATION. All the tracks, top drivers, etc. should be included to make it realistic. I would love to line up against Bernstein or Force on the computer (and real life, but that won't happen). Any drag racing sim would have to have the top four pro classes, the *** classes and the sportsman classes. Also, it should be real time (or at least simulated real time) to simulate the 90 minutes between rounds. Blow an engine and you may not make it if you can't get it rebuilt in time. Also have the ability to build and paint your own car in any class, run nitrous or not, etc. I don't think the NASCAR model could be used for a drag rcing sim. A drag sim wouldn't require near as much computer horsepower as NASCAR as there is only one other car to have to worry about the AI for, not 30. Also, the track is straight, so no spinning background scenery or anything like that to have to draw. I have long since wished for a good drag racing sim. The last one I had at all was Top Fuel Eliminator on the Apple, circa 1987 or so. With today's graphical capabilities, I think a drag racing simulation would sell well. And think of the multiplayer possibilities...either head-to-head or a large group of drivers could gather, go through 4 qualifying rounds to make the ladder of 16. These 16 drivers could then go at it (not all at the same time obviously) for the win. And no stupid fools would be out there waiting to take the leader out when he comes or cause accidents in general as in NASCAR multiplayer. There are some on this newsgroup that think that a drag sim is a "niche" product that would not sell well. To me, NASCAR is a more of a niche product than a drag sim would be, as NASCAR is centered mostly in the southern and eastern parts of the country, while NHRA races all over the country, from Florida, to California, to Seattle, to the far northeast. More exposure across the country would tend to bring in more fans, fans that would more than likely buy a drag racing sim if one was produced. NASCAR is just now expanding into Texas while NHRA is adding their third and fourth national events here next year. I'll be at both the Slick 50 Nationals and the new Supernationals that will be added next October at Houston Raceway Park. 110,000+ fans per race weekend every race weekend at a drag race is more than most NASCAR races pull in. Papyrus would do better to put the planned open wheel sim or whatever it is they're working on on the back burner for a while and produce a drag racing sim before someone else does...like Microsoft (perish the thought :)). Whoever does do it stands to make a LOT of money. Kevin

Kevin.. Sounds like a damn good idea.. dont really follow drag racing much but after what you said i think i wouldnt mind playing a game.. why dont you write NHRA or whoever is in cahrge of drag racing and ask why htere arnt any games out?? john >>I myself would love to see a drag race sim. There are pro sims out there and programs to rest set-up out there. Myself and my brother were running a 68 Dart with a 426 max wedge and were doing all the tweeking from experience until another driver told us about a program called Drag Strip Plus. I D/Led the demo and WOW. We are using it to help in building a 69 Dart with a 440 now and it's very very deep. You better know your angles, durations and most everything because this one digs deep to optimize your set-up. It can be found at: WWW: [link lost in import] Personnaly I don't think Papyrus is good enough to code a good drag sim. How are they gonna set up the multiple clutches in top fuel for instance when you factor in a 5000 hp engine and you have to set the slip on each clutch so that they grab gradually off the line. Sure the do it in the real world but the mech don't have to worry about 10000 lines of code and ***ie customers. (just the sponsers) The would have to take in to account the individual tweeking like what John Forces' crew does (1 fuel pump during burn-outs) and the others. I live the idea of a 8-16 car match-up in a sim and you'd see me in the pro-stocks, but for now I'll have to settle for real life. If it's made though, I'll be the first on my block to buy it. HEY Papyrus, why don't you respond to these posts????

We MUST have a drag race sim. If someone doesn't come out with one, I am gonna die. I need something to bide my time on the off season when the local track is closed. PLEASE someone do this...P-L-E-A-S-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked Papyrus last year about a Drag Racing sim and they took my name and said they would look into it. I am sure they have been busy with the new versions of Indycar and Nascar, but maybe when Nascar2 is out and the bugs worked out they will have time to look into it. I have also talked to soom of the folks at National Dragster and they don't know why there is not a good sim either. Family Software in Pa. makes a sim but it is nothing spectacular. If anyone has any doubt if a drag sim is possible, Check out Microsoft Monster Truck Maddness. I'ts not Top Fuel or Pro Stock but it's a start. > >There are pro sims out there and programs to rest set-up out there.
