Here's hopin' for a sequel to papyrus' NASCAR for the playstation <annual versions would be great!> This game is great...I've been playing it steadily since i got it a week ago and I must say this is MY favorite game for my Playstation...tons o' fun! I just hope this isn't a one time deal! I'd love to see a new version next year with either/or improved graphics or full 40 car races. this is not to say the graphics aren't good it's just i believe the playstation is capable of "cleaner" graphics<ie. track textures> AGAIN I love this game and these are in now way gripes..simply things I'd love to see added: Ambient sounds...crowd cheers Weather conditions More night races...beauty! Changeable car...I know you can make your own car in the PC version but how about a small library of them for the PS version. Please papyrus...keep this one on the PS!!And congrats on an incredible game! JASON

WHAT ARE THE 2 FANTASY TRACKS LIKE?

I figure I'll buy this one next week or so- when I can find it for cheaper than $54.99. Sales can get down to $39.99 locally. One thing that worries me- is there a menu for calibrating an analog controller? I understand NASCAR is prepared for a Mad Catz- but even so, does NASCAR allow you to do your own calibration of it, or must you live with their pre-notated calibration of a Mad Catz? I ask, because Andretti racing *didn't* have a menu option for calibration, and I had to return it. It had other problems too. Psygnosis' F1, on the other hand, is a *masterpiece*. I realize people are flaming it, but I really don't see why. Have they driven through downtown Monaco?!? So far, every course I've done in the past 2 weeks has been amazing. The car model took some getting used to, but now seems fantastic (if a little too forgiving), and there is no "canned spin" like in GP2. Arcaders are, of course, going to be very dissapointed- it isn't ridge racer. But anybody who likes racing sims should buy it. I bought a Playstation to run it, and II may have to buy F1 again for PC when it comes out there! I just hope NASCAR for PSX is optimized as well as F1 is. I've heard about some speed problems in the PSX NASCAR, particularly in accidents. Whatever Psygnosis did, I just can't get over how incredibly fast the code is in F1- to do Monaco with a full grid with no slowdown- I really can't believe it... Mindblowing!

cheaper than $54.99. Sales can get down to $39.99 locally.>> www.buyrite1.com has it for $39.99. It was 49.99 total for 2 day shipping. controller? >> Yes. Very nice calibration. so, does NASCAR allow you to do your own calibration of it, or must you live with their pre-notated calibration of a Mad Catz? >> Nope. You can calibrate it however you like. are flaming it, but I really don't see why. Have they driven through downtown Monaco?!? So far, every course I've done in the past 2 weeks has been amazing. >> Agreed. F1 is fantastic! about some speed problems in the PSX NASCAR, particularly in accidents. >> Afraid so. When anything goes on bad on the track, the frame rate drops, even if the accident isn't in view. I knew there was something bad happening elsewhere on the track becuase suddenly the frame rate dropped. Sure enough...came around and there was a big mess...better than a spotter <G> Randy

Well, there you go, I'll buy it then. | >> I understand NASCAR is prepared for a Mad Catz- but even | so, does NASCAR allow you to do your own calibration of it, or must | you live with their pre-notated calibration of a Mad Catz? >> | Nope. You can calibrate it however you like. Great news. I'll have to buy NASCAR now. And I;ll have to figure out some way to mou t my Mad Catz- I rest it on my lap now, and by the end of a race, I am one sore SOB. Any tips? | >> Psygnosis' F1, on the other hand, is a *masterpiece*. F1 is fantastic! Just spectacular. I just got finished another 2 hours of racing with it. Friends of mine are working through Quake; they are all worried what they will do next when they are done. I, on the other hand, will be working on these 16 tracks... forever!

Well, NASCAR was always a bit slow even on PC (in SVGA, at least), form what I heard. ICR2 was actually faster in certain respects- later generation program by Papy probably accounts for it. I don't care; I must have NASCAR, now that I have a platform (PSX) basically fast enough to handle it. The big question is, what the hell did Bizarre/Psygnosis do to get F1 so damn fast, and why is no other PSX racer *I've* seen (including Destruction Derby, IMHO) even close to it? While PSX seems to be just coming in to "full bloom" in terms of amount and quality of software coming out for it, in one sense, PSX is the "slow guy", what with N64 and other soon to come... but Bizarre/Psygnosis has showed with F1 that there is still a lot you can do just by optimizing code... I mean, the speed of the graphics in F1 blow my mind. I hope this means new programs have to meet their benchmarks, their standard, to be acceptable to gamers. I really don't need 64 bits if 32 can do what I'm seeing in F1. Thanks, Randy!

WHAT ARE THE 2 FANTASY TRACKS LIKE? One is based in Colorado, the other in California. I think both are quite cool. The Colorado track has the Rocky Mountains in the background, and they are lush high dark greenish mountains. The road winds up around some hills and there is a fair amount of banking. The other one is in Red Rock and it also consists of a drive through a sand-stone-like mountain range, with bowl shaped heavily banked turns around hills. They aren't ovals, but they borrow some banking from ovals. I think both tracks are quite nice...I wish I had them in the PC version. Randy
