OK, I've narrowed it down to the Intergraph Reactor and the Sierra Screamin' 3D video cards. Both are Rendition ready with 4mb of ram and both are $199.95. The only thing that's swaying me toward Sierra is the fact that they bundle some interesting software titles with their card. Is the software the kicker, or is the Intergraph so much better, that I won't miss the free stuff? CR

Will be receiving the Screamin 3d later this week. The software bundle was a lot better. I don't know if the reactor is better but I doubt it.

That good service from Intergraph seems to be restricted only for people living in USA. Their Finnish office doesn't sell the Reactor, and it's not possible to call toll-free number in US from Finland, which is the only way to order the Reactor. Intergraph is an established name in the professional market, but maybe their customer support is working overtime now in US, as they have entered the home market with Reactor, and are getting much more calls than before ;-? It seems the only way to get ICR2/Rendition is to wait for Sierra's Rendition card :(

Hey, you could always make a LD call and order it. Or wait and complain. Your choice. If you can afford the card, surely you can afford a one time call to the states. I did it for three years while living in Germany. Depends on badly you want it. Overtime? Not that I could tell. They (sales) didn't answer the phone when I called after hours. See my first commment.

Besides, Intergraph doesn't do overseas orders ... I, too, ordered the Reactor thru Intergraph Finland and found out that Intergraph is unable to provide its subsidaries with Reactor. I guess the demand in the US is greater than they can deliver ... Lucky for me, I have a colleague in Houston, TX, who ordered one for me and shipped it to FInland. I should receive it today or on Monday at the latest ... -- Henrikki (Hena) Hakkanen Tel. ?(9)0-345 5538 ------- The best way to accelerate a Mac is 9.81 m/s2 -------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: Opinions expressed here are mine and does not necessarily reflect those of my employer!

Your friend could have ordered Intergraph and gotten it overnight. I dont know if CL or Sierra are shipping in Europe either. It is not a matter of quantity. We can handle that. Its a matter of export licensing, trade restrictions (i.e. red tape.) I have spoken with our Engineering & Marketing staff and these issues are being worked out now. Regarding "customer support working overtime" we arent yet. We have a good product and good engineering that helps us resolve problems fast.

Good to hear we non-US folks have not been forgotten. I understand it takes time to get a new product through all the bureuacracy and getting that CE approval etc. I just bought a new mouse and even that as a CE sticker, sheesh. Neither 3D Blaster or Sierra's card are yet to found in any stores here in Finland, but I'm only interested to get ICR2/Rendition, so 3D Blaster is out from my list. As Sierra is a newcomer in hardware, it's not clear if their software importer(s?) will sell their card here at all. It seems I just have to wait for Reactor :)

I dont know if CL or Sierra are shipping in Europe That's exactly what he did. He ordered Intergraph last Monday, got the card on Tuesday, shipped it to Finland, and it should arrive today ... Can't wait!!! Is that the reason why your overseas subsidaries can't get the card? I'm glad to hear that. I don't expect any problems installing the Reactor, but if there should be any, I know who to turn to.

Sierra is hardly a newcomer to hardware. They aren't making this card - they are just MARKETING the card like they've done for over 8 years starting with the MT-32 MIDI box which started the entire MIDI revolution in games. For those of us who could afford the $500 price tag back in 1990 we were able to experience MIDI music years before it became a standard. Sierra also markets Thrustmaster products and other game related hardware.
