This really disgusts me. I seriously doubt that the RAM requirements
for the actual game will be lower than the demo, which is just too
high at 16 megs of RAM. There is no reason why this product cannot be
made to run with 8 megs of RAM. I already need to upgrade my
computer's processor, even though it's a Pentium 75mhz. That's going
to cost $300. Upgrading RAM will also cost money. Some of us own
excellent computers, manufactured in the last YEAR, which are already
too weak to run a damn DEMO. Not everyone has hundreds of dollars to
play with, after spending thousands on a system. Come on, Papyrus,
unless you include a RAM upgrade with NASCAR2, expect a lot of people
to be upset if the 16 meg requirement remains.

Keep in mind the demo is SVGA only. I'm sure (just like in the original
Nascar Racing) the requirements will be lower for VGA. Save an extra $38
dollars (the best price for 8meg SIMMS I've seen recently) and add some RAM
to your system. But frankly if you can't afford that upgrade, you
shouldn't be buying games in the first place.

a good time to do it. I just bought another 16M of EDO for just over $120.
Pretty sad considering I paid around $200 for 4M just about a year ago.
I am not sure why NR2 takes that much RAM. I thought that Nascar Racing
used most of the RAM for replay caching only.

I would hazard to guess that the extra memory is needed for the Spotter.
All of the sounds will need to be loaded into memory to be ready at a
moments notice.

The
spotter sound and really the main thing is the SVGA UI. We made a
decision early on to make the interface look as slick as possible. We
have lots of special backgrounds for the different screens. We could have
done a VGA UI, but that would have taken twice as long (2 distinct sets of
artwork) and meant the interface as a whole wouldn't have looked as good.
The addition of the spotter voice also takes alot of memory. We are doing
everything we can to get the memory down, but I can say that 8MB won't be
enough for the final version.

Papyrus
seeing that 16 MB of RAM is now the "de-facto" standard for Windows 95
systems, I don't see why a 16 MB minimum would be a big deal... In
fact, I just upgraded from 16 MB to 48 MB, should take care of me for
a least a year or so :)

Please feel free to design one, and I am sure you and all the other 8 meg
people out there will buy it.
As for me, I hope they put so many options and other useless pretties in
the darn thing that I am forced to sell the wife's car in order to upgrade
to a P-6 200mzh with a 16meg video card and 128 megs of ram. Not to
mention two or three 2.5 gig hard drives.
Go Papy!! Pile in the features. I'll buy at least two copies!
