Quoted text (37 lines)>Hi everyone. Just wanted to field some queries that somebody from >Papy can hopefully address. >First off, great job on the demo guys. From what I've seen, there's >enough already for me to shell out $$ for Nascar2. >A couple of things have me concerned though, both concerning the AI. >The AI in Nascar I is far too forgiving, and this sort of behavior is >evidenced in the demo as well. At Atlanta, (can't survive around the >Glen with the given setup) whenever I start sniffing at the tail of >one of the AI cars through a turn, he'll start to drift high, making >it easy for me to pass underneath coming out of the turn. The AI does >seem more solid into the turns though, as it doesn't seem to stay high >to allow you the inside, which happens frequently in NR1. >Has the AI been improved so that the AI isn't so congenial towards the >player ("oh, excuse me sir, here is the inside line you're after")? >The second thing is that the qualifying order is always very similar. >I know there are only 8 drivers in the demo, but it seems that the >drivers qualify in similar order time and again. This was a problem >in NR1. Will this be addressed in the full release? In NR1, you'd >never see the likes of Jeff Burton, Ricky Craven, Bobby Hamilton, >etc., get the pole. Hopefully in NR2 driver skill ratings won't have >the same predictable effects, so that we can see a strong performance >from a driver/team that isn't typically a contender on a weekly basis. >On an unrelated topic, will the spotter tell you to stay high/low to >avoid a wreck? All I've noticed so far is the spotter saying "there's >a wreck in turn x". The spotter's great, by the way, and sure sounds >a lot like Rick Mast. >Lastly, I noticed that the AI cars still recover remarkably fast from >a spin, just like in NR1. Can't a longer delay be stuck in before the >AI performs its spin-o-rama? >Bill.
Bill- I did have the #5 car rub me once as I was going by him on the inside. It seemed he did not want me to pass. Mike
