I have the demo and if you're expecting a "finished" product, you will be disappointed. You need to remember that this is only a demo, so don't blow a fuse when you find out that: 1. There are no engine sounds (at least on my machine), but the spotter sounds do work (very cool) 2. Very few of the options work 3. The two tracks are Atlanta and Watkins Glen (Sorry Dega lovers..) 4. The frame rate is pretty poor on my P75 with 16mb RAM (and Papyrus says they are going to improve on that) 5. The 3-way mirror is like a mirror with clear glass in it. (i read in the readme.txt that they were actually showing the cars in 3D and that it would greatly affect the frame rate, so I may have been doing something wrong) 6. The demo only supports one joystick, so if you have a wheel you will not be able to use the pedals. Looks like they still have a long way to go on this thing, but for a quick hit demo it ain't too bad.... CR Ridley

> >1. What did you expect, you can practice, qualify, warmup, and race. Although there are no flags of any kind, or lap boards. The new Glen will take some getting used to. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems less hilly. I found setting things to auto made them shut off even if they didn't have to. I could run with clouds, objects, car paint, and skids/paint fine with my P75, 16meg ram. I am using a T2, joy one has wheel, pedals, and gear shifter. Joy 2 has little red reverse button. The spotter is great. Although it's kind of annoying when he yells at me to watch my speed in the pit, rather than telling what rpm to stay under. -- Brian Fox The Fox Den: Nascar and ICR2 http://www.4w.com/pages/fox AND/OR http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/1238 When I die, I want to go peacefully, like my grandfather in his sleep, not screaming like the other passengers in his car.
>I have the demo and if you're expecting a "finished" product, you will >be disappointed. You need to remember that this is only a demo, so >don't blow a fuse when you find out that: yes, and we have to remember that! if we get irate at Papyrus for the demo, don't ever count on another one! thank you Papyrus!!!!!! I had no problems with the engine sounds. When I ran setup and did autodetect, it worked great. but if I ran test sound, it played the "testing 1-2-3-4" or whatever it was, then crashed back to dos... so I went back, autodetected, saved it and pressed on... and opposition level only went to 100% for me. Atlanta looks good, but man, I was really impressed with how the Glen looked!!!! all I can say is, WOW!!! good job Adam! now all I have to do is work on my technique there. too bad we couldn't change the wheel lock on the setups :) I kind of compare it to ICR and ICR2... ICR2 was much better graphically than ICR and the frame rate seemed ok, but what I noticed is that we "got more graphics" for the same framerate, basically. Hit the "m" key to toggle it. however, I got the car in all 3 mirrors. not like NASCAR Racing's way of using the mirror. the car was in all 3 of the glass pieces... hope that changes! too confusing! :) not so. I have a T1 and it worked just great. of course, I only use 1 joystick anyway :) I really liked the time instead of speed, and the spotter is really cool!!! I like that part a lot! however, he can "shut up" after I'm being towed... hehehehe I wish I could "interact" with him :) doesn't he sound a bit like Rick Mast?? I like this; It's kinda funny, actually. I'm wonder though, what'll happen at the short tracks: "Car high, car low, car high, car low, etc...". I like how he tells you your position and what car#/position/standings of your nearest competitor. This has GOT to be some complicated code here. It'd be cool to be able to put your OWN voice in there somewhere... Ouch! This isn't a "true" story, is it? ;) Larry Abels -- ____- /\ ____- /**\ HOME: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/2412 __L_- /****\ __J_- /** -- **\ ____- /**/----\**\ Check my HOME Page for ORIGINAL ____- /**/ \**\ Modified Stock Car Stuff! - --- 812 ---
just an observation... in NASCAR Racing you can go to 120%, in the demo for NASCAR 2, if it's any indication, the opponent strength is set at max of 100%. that could mean several things... 1. that's as high as it will go, or possibly they haven't bothered to set it higher yet. 2. kinda like GP2 versus F1GP, 100% is tougher and what we're used to as 100% may be more like 98% or something? I ran into the chicane wall (Inner loop) two laps in a row before I realized where I was... :) good point, in real life they do quote the RPMs, and that would be good. problem is, they'd have to do a sound file for every RPM (keep it at % RPMs", where % would be whatever RPM you told it to tell you for that particular gear setting/race. something like "4800 in 2nd gear!" hmmm, is that a possiblity Adam?

I have seen several people say that but it's just not true! I have the T1 and the wheel and the pedals all work fine. >Looks like they still have a long way to go on this thing, but for a >quick hit demo it ain't too bad.... >CR Ridley
