I missing the rain weather in the GP2 i can help my? thanks mario from switzerland
>I missing the rain weather in the GP2 >i can help my? >thanks mario from switzerland Rain and Weather effects are not in GP2 yet, they were features that were promised by Microprose but they ran out of time to implement them in the game. There has been some talk that there will be a GP2 addon or patch that will have weather effects as well as 1996 drivers and maybe even network racing. Cheers. --John -- ------------------- John (Joao) Silva http://weber.u.washington.edu/~jsilva Seattle, Washington USA.

Excuse this person's remark, I do not know if he was joking or not... Microprose programmed the weather into GP2, but they did not implement it. Wait for a patch. You and everyone else is missing the rain mate!!. ***y networks missing too !!! Having followed GP racing for the last god knows how many years (I have been to every British GP since 1977) I cannot recall a season, where at least one GP was not a wet race. And Mr Crammond lives in Britain too, so he should know what rain is all about or Perhaps he lives in a greenhouse?? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Southend, Essex. just of a wet race i don't think so, the wet race menu options are in gp2 they just didn't have time but they will do it and they have to do a patch and 96 update but all this will come so everybody stop arguing about whats not in it and play it its the best f1 sim game in the world and nothing will come close for a long time. If u don't believe me about the wet race options just get yourself a hex editor and edit the gp2.exe file and search for the word wet youll see all the options they made.

What a ***! They didn't have time. BULLSHIT! THEY not us set the criteria for the game. I remember the release STATING weather changes, voice overs, realistic game play. Now don't tell me they did not have enough time. If they could not deliver, then they should have said so from the start. Instead, they produce a beta version of the product, make us pay for the ***y thing, and then sit back and take note of all the errors we have compiled. Then they produce the real game sometime late next year and force us to buy yet another piece of software so we can have what they originally said they would do. That's pretty smart thinking from the guy who thought of it! I wonder if he gets 30% off the top? And before people jump up and down on me here is a list of the things they could not be bothered to have ready for the beta release. 1) Unrealistic pit stops 2) Weather changes 3) car reactions seem a little 'fixed' 4) If you run into a wall at full speed, there is a good chance you will avoid any damage to the car! 5) Graphic bugs 6) HELLO!! It's 1996! The game was released in 1996! Why the fruck do you give us 1994 stats!!! What happened to 1995? Oh it's in the patch version.. There are others. Basically, what they should have done is release a shareware/demo version on one of those PC magazines on those demo CD-roms. Just one track or so, and let those of us who had been*** out since September 1995 for 'something'. No! Geoff is too finicky they said. He wants it PERFECT! And then they release a sub standard version. The only thing perfect about Geoff is his thinking. This way he gets paid twice for the one game. Let's all praise the Geoff. Remember, they set the goal posts, they set the time, and they failed to deliver. First it was delayed by up to 8 months, and then when it was released, it was not the all singing all perfect game that the Microprose PR team had promised. Basically, if I was a business, and MICRPOROSE had given me a tender promising the moon and then delivering bad pictures of the moon, I would be obliged to sue them. But Microprose reckons it can get away with this kind of shit all the time. After all, it's only a game. Maybe you should have waited until other people bought it and started posting their opinions to this newsgroup before you decided to purchase this product. And, if you don't like Microprose's policies, then don't buy any more of their products. That's a pretty easy solution, isn't it ?? By the way, promising more than the product contains, years in advance, is a fairly common practice. Hell, if it's good enough for Bill Gates and Microsoft, then it's good enough for Microprose. JDM

All sorts of other games - Papyrus sims for instance - are like this.....ICR2's only became driveable a month or so back! Yeah - it's not perfect - it's easy to pick holes - but it's damn good! Lets face it - no-one made you buy it in the first place, and no-one's making you play it now! ENJOY it!!! (for what it is!) So you`ve never said you could do something, believing that you could and then found out later that your original estimation of your own ability was wrong then? Is somebody forcing you to download a patch/buy a new version? Have you been threatened that if you don`t get it *** things will happen to you? I don`t think so. You have a choice if you buy any upgrades. If this was the thinking then it is hardly smart, pretty stupid actually. If a company gets a rep. for supplying sub-standard products why will people ever go back to them in the future? 1)Yup, unrealistic. But this is not a bug, it is a programmers choice. 2)They should have been in and it is a shame that they aren`t. 3)I`m not entirely sure what you mean by this but the way my car handles is governed by my controls and my set up, and there is a lot I can do to alter it. 4)See the response to 1) 5)There are some graphics bugs but I`m yet to hear of a programmer who can make a piece of software run perfectly on every single P.C. 6)You see there`s this little man called Bernie Ecclestone who sold Microprose the rights to the 94 season, not the 96 one. If Microprose use 96 cars, colours, names etc they get sued from here to kingdom come. <snip> >Ashraf Ghebranious As an extra note, to the best of my knowledge there is no official line from GC or Microprose about the existence of a patch. Once again those who know aren`t talking and those that are talking probably don`t know. Mark _________________________________ "..every lap I think `Oh bollocks! Yes I have. And have asked for extensions as well! And then produced a decent output based on the problem at hand. So the question I have is, when did the F1GP2 team realise that weather was not avialiable and why was there no offical statement prior to release in regards to what was left in and what was left out? BTW I did get the erratae in the box mentioning that weather was not implemented. Problem here is, to read this, I had to open the box. And to open the box, I had to open it. And to open it, I had to pay someone money. Microprose delayed the release of the game not once, not twice, but three times and over a 8-10 month period. Okay so there is no rain. But why so many bugs? Didn't the testers drive any of the cars? Or did they ASSUME these would be fixed in the release version? Incorrect here Mark. I payed money for a product that I was told had been held back so as to make the game as complete and as bug free as possible. I ask you.. do you think the game is bug free? Because, the people buying games is getting bigger all the time! More home computers being sold etc to people who believe that what is on the outside of the box has a reflection of what is in the box. Further, Microprose does not care! In two, three years, a whole bunch of 16 year olds will herald a whole new generation of people to rip off! Individually, we have no say. As a class action, we can sue the pants off them! This was in regards to the way the car spins in a preset fashion. Agreed, but the game had been delayed by months. And if you believe that Microprose have no intention of a F1GP3, then think again! And I wonder if this will have the 1994 players, or the carsets for currently drivers which they recently negotiated the rights for?

I never said there would be. This is more akin to the Mechwarrior game where the 'patch' for a networable version was to buy the new version. I expect to paying for any fixes to this game. Like I am not already! >Mark >_________________________________ >"..every lap I think `Oh bollocks! >This is dreadful..`" Damon Hill >__________________________________ Every lap I think 'Oh Damon!' criteria for >>>the game. I remember the release STATING weather changes, voice overs, Sorry, but I would still call GP2 "decent output", considering it is better than any other racing sim I have tried. Nobody said it was being held back so it could be as bug-free as possible. That was ***that people stirred up in this newsgroup. The main reason it was held up was to make it playable on less-powerful computers. Good luck. A class-action suit against a product which at least 90% of this newsgroup is happy with. It sucks that it took so long to get to us, and that it doesn't have weather, or allow you to drive to parc ferme, or a billion other nit-picking complaints that everyone has, but I haven't found a better racing sim yet, so I don't see why all the complaints are warranted.

And cause of the existing of some old stuff inside the code, existing from the time they beleaved they will include weather, they will now work on a patch ? <VBG> Be serious. Cheers Thomas --- Get up, dive down, no problem
I'm somewhat optimistic. They did the same for GP 1 (ages ago) when the release version included code for linked play that was disabled. Later I got The Update(tm) per mail. Just depends wether Microprose has adopted Microsoft behaviour over the last years or not - hmmm... after having been robbed with GP Manager (no decent fix yet - ever?) I'm not so sure... David
iksteh 03 Oct 1996#339639
Actually, I fully expect a patch (how long? who knows?) since there is clearly a "patchlevel=0" entry in gp2log.txt if the game is run with logging turned on. If you've ever distributed software, and managed version control, you would probably understand that if you decide not to use code - you take it out of the binary! I feel Microprose would have reasonable version control, and there is no excuse for leaving code in an exe if it is never meant to be executable. Jet
