What's going to be special about this version? Is it just supposed to run faster (better frame rates) or is it something else also? Also, is the Matrox Millenium card still tops in ***? Am buying new system & want to get the best of everything if possible Thanks, Hank

It looks like Sierra will be porting ICR2 over to the Rendition based boards (especially since they themselves are making such a board). For the features of the board take a look at the Rendition homepage at [link lost in import] (pay close attention to the technology section). The game should be faster, but the main advantage will be much improved image quality that the 3D cards allow (anti-aliasing, tri-linear filtering, dynamic lighting and shading, etc...). The Matrox is a fast card, but it had little in the way of 3D acceleration. Your best bet (if you have $500 to spend) would be to get one of the Rendition boards (Creative Labs or Sierra's are both going to be about $200) and add a 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics based dedicated 3D card (Orchid's Righteous3D and Diamond's Monster3D are both about $300). This way you will be able to take advantage of software written specifically for these two leading chips, and the addition of the Voodoo board will help tremendously in Win95 Direct3D applications as looks to be a much faster 3D card (3-4 times as fast for some specs). -- Emory University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences Nascar Setups Page: http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~ebusch/

From what I've heard, the Rendition version of ICR2 will run full detail in SVGA at frame rates significantly higher than 30 fps on a stock Pentium 90. Sierra On-line is committed to selling a version of the board themselves, so it's pretty obvious that Papyrus will have "orders" to support it. Not to mention that they've already said they are going to support it. Given that, I'm holding out for a Rendition board. Sierra is supposed to ship theirs in November.
