5 posts by 5 people · 27 Aug 1996 - 03 Sep 1996

Unfortunately GP2 is very hard to set it up. After having a bit of problem to set up the Thrustmaster T! now GP2 dont detect my COM3. Everything is fine with my system i play Indy and Nascar via modem since 1 year with no problem! If someone can help me on this, i use the comsetup utilities from the cd-rom of gp2 and it didnt work out. in modem setup, only com2 is available! My system com1 = 03F8 interrup=4 com2 = 02f8 interrup=3 com3 = 03E8 interrup=5 Andre

Now, don't throw a brick at my head, but if my grey mass recollects well, you're setting of COM3 is different than usual. Some braincells tell me that COM3 has the same interrupt as COM1 but a diff= erent base-address (or was it: COM3 has the same base-adres but a different IRQ a= s COM1). To all PC users: confirm this please! 2nd suggestion: perhaps a software-driver is messing up things here. Try to= disable as many drivers as you can and start from DOS (not W95). Good luck! -- = From: Harrie Gulikers =

Yep. COM3 is using the same interrupt as COM1 (usually IRQ4). As the mouse is usually on COM1 and you're using it in GP2, COM3 is not available for link-up mode. The only solution I found for this problem is unloading the mouse driver and go through the menus by keyboard. This wil make COM3 and IRQ4 available for link-up. Good luck. I had a similar problem, and the only way to fix it was to change the modem's com port to 2. To do that I had to disable the computer's second com port in the bios, but that wasn't a problem cause it wasn't used. BTW have you tried starting the game with GP2 linkonmouseport It didn't work for me though :(

What did you write in the comsetup command?? Did you remember to state both com3 and com4? I have solved MY modem probs with comsetup. I made a f1gp2.bat file with this text: REM start gp2 call c:\games\gp2\comsetup.exe 2ef 2e8 gp2.exe REM start gp2 regards Nielsen q;-) http://home1.inet.tele.dk/jnielsen/
