NASCAR: Incompatible Track?!?!?!

Well, here's one I hadn't seen before. Logged on tonight and tried to join a 'dega race, got to the "Session" screen and got "Incompatible Track!" message and was booted back to the scheduler. Ya know, a $60 phone bill for about 20 minutes of racing (out of 197 minutes of LD time) was bad enough. Waiting in the scheduler for races to form for 5-10-15 minutes was bad enough. Finding very few races for skill level 0 that WEREN'T at Talladega was bad enough. But getting booted out of a race with a message I've never seen before takes the cake! I have the standard NASCAR track setups, I haven't modified 'dega except as shown in 'THe Pits" (i.e. restrictor plate and faste opponents) so I don't get it. Or is that all it takes? Frankly, Hawaii is becoming a major disappointment. Or am I missing something here? -- Bob Landry "So long....and thanks for all the fish!"

What are the chances you aletered the track.txt file to take the restrictor plate off... or maybe you used Jed's Talladega patch? If you aren't using the EXACT file that shipped in the retail package, you get the incompatible track message. Caught you! You got it. They are checking to make sure someone hasn't "cheated" with their files. This will do it. [snip] -- **************************** Michael E. Bob, 60 bucks for 197 minutes is crazy. You need to call sprint or at & t and get a .10 a min rate. Ed, Can the talladega patch not be used with hawaii? The Taladega patch affects only the performance of the AI cars. It doesn't change the track so it would have no affect on Hawaii. -- Chuck Stuart - Mesquite TX USA

Bob, You were booted because you had taken the restrictor plate off. We do this so there will be a level playing field. If you restore the track.txt file to original, you'll be able to get into Hawaii races. Charlie Heath Papyrus Design Group

Charlie, I was getting this message too for a while. But, I had not changed any of my track files. I even reloaded the games from my CD and still got this error on Hawaii. One day I was surfing the SIERRA web site and saw a link to a Hawaii.exe updated on 7/2. I checked my copy of Hawaii.exe that I downloaded from The Pits and sure enough it was an older version. I DLed the new version from SIERRA and logged on to Hawaii and into a race with no problem. I was in contact with Hawaii-Help about this and told them how I solved it; hoping they would have the answer in case anyone else had the same problem. Bob, Try downloading the Hawaii.exe from SIERRA (http://www.sierra.com/papyrus/). Hopes this works for you like it did for me. Jon V.
