Well I have heard of them, but this is the first time I have actually
encountered any, ***-Terrorists!
Yes folks, your wonderful sleepy community of rec.autos.simulators is
now under full attack by a bunch of social misfit ***agers!
There are a number of these ***-Terrorists in operation thoughout
usenet. They are usually composed of immature, socially maladjusted
***age boys. Their main achievement in life is making life hell for
unsuspecting newsgroups.
For a couple of months they will "lurk" in a particular newsgroup.
Making profiles of the discussions and some of the "key" players in the
newsgroup. All the while they are comparing notes via e-mail. When
they feel the time is ripe they start their terrorist actions.
Posting under "masked" accounts and under various "names" they launch
their attack. Leaving Flame Bait Bombs, forging false posts by some
"key" contributor to the newsgroup. All to undermine the community and
close knit organization of a newsgroup.
Folks we are under attack! I am not making the above up. Spend a
little time and check the "headers" of all suspect postings we have
received for about the last month. There is a pattern. Some of the
agent provocateurs are pretty good at covering their posting trails.
However a couple of them have been extremely sloppy.
Any way, the only way to combat these type of terrorist attacks is to
ignore them. Put offensive posters in your kill file. When there is no
reaction, there is no satisfaction. They will then go off and find some
other newsgroup to undermine.
"Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean someone isn't out to get
you!"

My kingdom for a kill-file, guess it's time to register.

I just love those kill filters...I've just added more to the list
today, as a matter of fact. I suggest to anyone that doesn't have an
adequate newsreader to try Free Agent (or Agent) at:

Awesome product! Very well supported, with technical update
notifications by e-mail at least once a month.
