Was going to set up a couple machines here to race but with the same N2003 cd installed in both (using the No-CD patched exe) they won't connect. In GPL I actually have a different problem, using the same CD to install in both one machine doesn't show any TCP/IP info in the multiplayer screens. Weird thing is I can connect it to a server in iGor no problem... its like GPL doesn't see the NIC..but it obviosly does. If I host on iGor I can't hook the other machine up, says the same thing that N2003 says, Open connect, blah blah blah, close connect.. but can connect both machines to a remote server no problem. I have no problem buying multiple copies (there are MANY on EBAy), just wonder if its necessary or something else is wrong? Thanks! G Patricks

About N2003, I've no clue. Regarding GPL, if you've patched it to 1.2, AND ran the CPU fix, than it's not a NO-CD issue. Look for a file named CORE.INI, in the GPL Folder. In your case it's likely you won't find it, but you'll find CORE.INI.SAMPLE instead. Copy that to CORE.INI, and make sure the next 2 lines are present: [ Communications ] alternate_ip_addr_lookup = 1 ; Find IP addresses another way Now it should work. Cheers! Remco
Thanks Remco! I'm not using a No-CD exe in GPL as you don't need the CD in to play. It is 1.2, got CPU and D3D fix installed also. I was thinking it may be a core.ini issue but GEM+ 2, during install, makes mention of using the sample core.ini and I never checked it after that... Using GEM+ (iGor) we can connect to a third party server, just not to each other (i.e. if I host on iGor he can't connect to me).. I just bought another copy of GPL and Nascar on EBay anyway, total less than $30 for both including shipping.. Thanks again! G Patricks

Nascar 2003 with the 'no cd' file won't connect via Sierra. You should be able to connect directly via TCP/IP with no problems. -Paul Eigsti -League & Server admin Western States Racing League www.wsrlracing.com -- "Icer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Was going to set up a couple machines here to race but with the same > N2003 cd installed in both (using the No-CD patched exe) they won't > connect. Icer, My experience is that you need the CDrom for NR2003 in each machine during the onset of trying to connect to multiplayer, be it via Sierra, and the CDKEY that installs with the version you install (on the CD jacket) cant have been banned by sierra (again this issue is only if you wanna use the Sierra Multiplayer lobbies to join servers. If you do the IP (bypassing Sierra) then you do it the similiar fashion the CD would need to be available long to not only launch the game, but also long enough to setup the 1st machine as the HOST, by going to the multiplayer on that main menu, then hitting the HOST tab. then you will see if any IP addresses have been discovered for that machine... Sierra lobbies matchmaking et all, will only allow one "instance of a valid (read NOT BANNED) CD key onto its multiplayer lobbies at one time. So, and now you know the IP of that HOST machine, you would then launch the other PC doing the join (not the usuall upper right corner click on via sierra) but instead you would fill out the "via tcp/ip" conection and add the addy in there, then at the bottom right, you will see the green "start button" appear. Pretty sure you can race 2 machines with same cd in this fasion. Course now you got 2 cd's so you can do it just like I have done it many times in NR03 that is, install the 2 different CDkeys on the (one each, on different PC that is) then even use the multiplayer hosting functions (if you have firewall this will be the next issue you must face for the hosting machine to accept connections outside your local net). so If It Were me, setup via TCP-IP bypass having to configure so that connections from outside the firewall or router, just to race head to head, but if you have the connection speed, you can both join a server no problems, or you can host for others plus that 2nd pc. GPL, on the otherhand doesnt care since it didnt directly support a "sierra" multiplayer lobby, but again you need the IP addy of the server you setup. This is the information that Vrock puts in there for you, when you joing via Vroc or that new one gplaim. clear as mud I suppose. Icer wrote:
