The tracks drive pretty much like the previous version, sorta. I'm discovering the mysteries of the new setup system and now I'm testing on the tracks. It's like "kid in candy store", however, as I jump from track to track. The tracks are first and foremost...GORGEOUS...STUNNING. I see the same visual cues that were there in the first version. The cranes are at the same places etc. The signs are different but the "count down" meter signs are all in the same places. So far I'm finding that I'm a gear low on most corners...meaning that I used to take this or that turn in 4th and now I'm finding it necessary to drop to 3rd. Perhaps a greater study of the settings will improve this. Bottom line, if you had a good grasp of the tracks in F1GP you will feel somewhat at home in GP2. It makes perfect sense to me, the tracks did not change in the last few years, why should the way that they are represented in the sim change. We did lose PHOENIX...(arrgghhh, I OWNED Phoenix....damnit) and we lost MEXICO, but we got PACIFIC...looks really tough, and we also picked up one called "EUROPE". I've never heard of the Europe one so can't comment but it too looks tough. The rest are faithfully rendered and what a treat you are in for when you see the pit garages, the "butts" of the spectators in the stands at Hockenheim...hehehehe, it's fabulous graphics. Perhaps it's the TV coverage we tolerate. Everyone outside the US, you WON'T believe this. The most widely available F1 coverage is on ESPN. It's not live, it's tape delayed to 9:30 Sunday night here on the West coast, 12:30 AM East coast. Sometimes it's on Monday some time. And, it's not two hours, it's EDITED TO ONE AND A HALF HOURS, WITH COMMERCIALS. The Silverstone coverage included over 10 minutes of pointless BS! ESPN is trying to get cable systems to buy their second channel, ESPN 2. That channel's F1 coverage is supposed to be pretty good, live race presentation and Saturday qualifying. But my cable system doesn't have it in my neighborhood. If anybody can get an NTSC video tape of pre race activity and commercial free race coverage, I'll send you a tape and pay return shipping on it. Can anybody get this on a dish? I priced them at $3500, but I need to put a 21" monitor, and a quarter gig of memory on my P6 first. That should be enough for a replay in Visionware's Starting Grid. Thanks Larry

How did I get a copy of GP2 a WEEK before the "rest of the Yanks", you ask, well, er, well you see I...ah...ah....well I flew to Paris,...yeah, that's it I flew to Paris and picked a copy. Yeah, I, er, I got it at Race sim's are Us, right there in Paris...yep, right on the Champs thing, you know the "main drag"...got it cheap too, only cost me...er, ah, $60 Canadian...yep, really a good deal, and I got extra peanuts on the flight too, ah huh, I mean lots of extra peanuts, and the Stewardesses all wanted my phone number too, hehehe, it was a great trip, of course I had to cut down the number of ones that I actually gave it too, and then there was the 2 CIA guys at the airport who tried to take my copy of GP2, yeah, CIA, they said that "someone" in Washington wanted to see this new F1 simulator...yeah, that's it, that's the ticket...it was someone in Washington, of course, I managed to "give 'em the slip"...hehehe sorta just downshifted as it were and got outta there real quicklike, and then they just gave up...yeah, that's the ticket, they knew that they were messing with a guy with the ONLY copy of GP2 here in the good ole' US of A...yep...only copy...hehehe, oh, and I got the sales slip too, I'll scan it and Email you a copy if you like...yep that's it...the sales slip.....
