I was wondering if Papyrus was ever planning to install a 1-800 phone
number to use with the multiplayer system? Those long distance charges
eat up some cash very fast.

Mike,
I'll try to quickly sum up what we've learned about this from the
guru's at Papy. They are looking into several alternatives to ease
the long distance charges but have not come to a conclusion yet.
Hawaii is still in Beta release, not a full product so alot of their
focus right now is on finishing the product. When NASCAR Racing 2 is
released, they should be finished or very close to where they want to
be to start the NRL, which will more than likely include some
variation of local provider numbers. The internet is 99% counted out
because of high latency (the time for a signal to get from your modem
to mine and back). I completely understand your concern about phone
bills, but I guess it's the price we pay for racing on the razors
edge.
