RBR is a great Rally simulator but the purple ghost car is causing me
trouble. I like to see the ghost, but when it's too close, I can't see much
of the track, which in very important in RBR.
That's the one thing CMR games do betters, when we're getting close to a
ghost car, the center view remain clean.
Is there any fix to that, other than turning the ghost off?
If we get the LAN patch, this problem will be very bad.
You can tune the ghost car to your likings, opacity and the distance
of disappearing etc.
I cant check out know where, but i remember seeing those in some ini
(maybe richardburnsrally.ini).
Go to the game folder, press F3 and type "ghost" for "A word or phrase
in a file", that should find it.
Cheers,
LM

and you'll have:
[Settings]
Ambient = 0.5 0.5 0.7
FadeDistance = 100
MaxOpacity = 0.7

And it's practically open source. Almost all the files are already editable.
The .rbz files can be extracted using winZip or winRar and the .dat files
can be extracted and recompiled using RBRutil that my friend wrote. All the
textures are .dds files, which means you can open them and save them in
Photoshop using the DDS plugin. Some of the .ini files are even commented to
help with editing..

cool, great news! Can somebody please release a "beer bottle mod" to
get rid of that nasty red bull stuff Richard serves you when you pass
a rally school test? Please? Currently, that's my 2nd biggest gripe
with the sim. The biggest is the poor navigator's aching and sighing
when I hit some prominent landmark.
Could somebody please replace that with a "yee-haw" or something, or
maybe a cockney-like "aaawright ma'e"? ;-)
TIA,
