Was wondering if this game will support modem play as does WC1?
Will it support IPX at all? even if its only for 2 players?
The reason I am asking this is Kali supports IPX but not modem
connections. IHHD supports modem but using Kali makes it easier to
set up matches with an opponent.

Apparently so.
Not in the first release. Perhaps in a subsequent version.
