I am a little curious... Yeh, it's great to be able to go out on a track and set incrediale track times. My question, are these hotshots willing to follow official PPG/Cart rules when it comes down to qualifying and racing? I wouldn't dare take most of these fast setups and use it for a qualifying run and then expect to last during the race. I would like to see results shared for real qualifying and race setups. It would be nice to see if my race setup speeds are even close to the best out there. Also, are there any Racing Leagues out there that adhere to the Official Rules regarding tires? The following is from the Official Rules book regarding tires that can be used at the start of the race: 9.12.4I. At oval events the same tires used to qualify a race car must be used on the race car to start the race. In the event that a tire used to qualify a race car is deemed unsafe after an entrant has qualified, the tire may be replaced by an identical tire, at the discretion of the tire review committee. The replacement tire must be selected from the aforementioned tire allotment. 9.12.4J. At road course events the same type tires used to qualify a race car must be used to start the race. The tires used to start the race must be selected from the tires identified and used to qualify that race car. When the weather condition during qualifying and the start of the race differs - wet to dry or dry to wet, the Technical Director may allow the use of or specify the use of tires other than the tires used during qualifying. The procedure used for tire selection for group qualifying sessions (i.e., road courses) is stated in Chapter 5.4.7. of this Rule Book. -- **************************** Michael E. : I would like to see results shared for real qualifying and race setups. : It would be nice to see if my race setup speeds are even close to the : best out there. Well, I RACE with my QUAL setup on some tracks. For Example, I will take my Race car and put low fuel in it for Martinsville (137.23mph). Same for Toronto (56.869s). Michigan, too (240.85mph). I use the same tires I would in the race. I don't have time to tweak a seperate car for Q and R. Just fill it with 40gals of fuel and off I go (depending on length). The exception is in Michigan where I use different wing settings (only a few clicks difference), but the others are identical.
