Not saying that the 619 callers are the only wreckless drivers but here's a
quick little calculation I've messed w/.
let's make it a slow race for calculations sake and say 1 lap per min
now let's say everyone is getting a really great long distance rate and
again for calculations sake let's average each player to .15 cents per min.
now we'll make this a 10 lap race ...
so our formula becomes racers x cost/min x laps/min x laps = cash at stake
10 racers x .15/min x 1 lap/min x 10 laps = $15.00
so ... when this race gets up to 20 racers, it's worth $30 ... 30 racers
is worth $45 ... hmmm something to think about
so if I'm joe racer running a 20 lap Tally event and it costs me .15 per
lap to run this thing I've got a potential of $3 at stake. Now if your
you have just cost me $2.85. I guess I can overlook the occasional slipup
but I really don't think any of us wants to get into this thing and continue
to lose money.
just my ramblings :)
thanks
Jim
btw .. if you can find a calculation error that reduces the costs displayed
here please let me know, however if you find an error that increases the
costs ... please don't tell me I just don't want to know :)

HAAhahhahahhaaahaha!! Oh I am laughing so hard! I can hear it now:
Martin: You took me out!
Craven: NO! You took ME out!
Martin: Look at my car! Totalled! Engine gone! That's $2.85 worth of
Jack Roush equipment you cost me pal!
Look I know that the service needs to be affordable, especially to us
***s that would spend hours and hours on, but man... I hear it costs
$80,000 a year to field a competitive car to the ProStock class of your
basic Friday night dirt track roundy rounds, and I know how much I spent
racing RC cars 10 years ago. So what's cheap? What's expensive?

Anyway you look at it, it going to cost alot to race. I havn't raced
yet, finding it hard to justify the cost, but maybe soon. For now I'll
just stick to racing over a null-modem cable. I know it's not the same.
Maybe someday it could be accessed via the internet.
Nascar is my favorite simulator, I bought it when it first came out,
great game.
I've been monitoring this newsgroup for quite a few months now. It's how
I start my day, read my e-mail, read this newsgroup and then plan my day.
I'm really getting a kick out of latest subject matter, i.e Hawaii.
Hopefully things will settle down after awhile. There will always be a
person or persons who will not race "Clean" and cause mishaps to happen,
that's bound to happen when you have a program like this open to the
public.

yeah but I still ain't thrilled about giving away my cash .. I'd like to
get value for my dolar. $2.85 ain't much really but ... it took me 10 min
to get into the race, 5 mins qual, and ... there ain't many 10 lap races
happening. Hell a guy can spend 2 hours online and only run one or two
races.
If I had the 80k I've got a local 1/4 asphalt that I'd be rockin' on
every Saturday Night ... hmmm .. Papy .. looking to sponser a circle
tracker? :)
just a few more races from the poorhouse :)
