I've spent the afternoon trying to come up with a competive field of
1996 drivers for ICR2. I carefully analyzed the EDS scoring data and
put together some data. I've tried to balance out the field and
compensate for drivers that do well on ovals or road courses. The
resulting data is based more on overall speed of the drivers/car combo,
rather than just finishing order. For you brave souls out there plug in
the numbers and give 'em a try. Any feedback will be greatly
appreciated.

Carver ************************* > Upside out, or inside down...False alarm the only game in town. > =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=<[ /./. [- < ]>=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=: I'd have to disagree with you, Michael, on a couple of your numbers. I don't
: think you've given enough credit to a couple of proven winners (Al Jr., Tracy,
: and a real up and comer, Greg Moore). Tracy had Homestead in the bag until he
: fried his ***..the Penske team seems to be suffering some mechanical problems
: at the moment. And I'm convinced Moore is the next Villeneuve..the paint job
: isn't the only thing they have in common... :)
: IMHO..I think we'll see a few different faces on the podium at Long Beach...and
: a few other tracks, too...
Well, the figures are only based on the results of 3 races. I tried to
set the drivers up as to how they have performed this year. As the year
progresses the numbers will be better. Working within these
limitations, I think that if you race against the AI with these numbers
the end results will be similar to the real ones. Now if I had the time
to sit down and map out how everyone did for every lap of the races they
ran so far, I would have real accurate results.
I tried to balance out the road drivers vs. the oval boys. I took a
look at their best performance (either qualifying or finishing) for the
good numbers. I used the lower of the 2 numbers for their lower
numbers. I have since gone back and revised the qualifying numbers and
will post them tomorrow.
It sounds like you have "looked" at the numbers, but have you raced
against them?

The drivers2.txt I use works fine. IMO traction has the biggest effect on
racing speed. My drivers2.txt is here:

The numbers aren't very accurate with backmarkers but they work well.
Slowest cars are 10-15 laps down on one mile ovals and 3-4 laps on street
circuits. Any comments?
