Geoff Crammond Touring Car Sim?

Assuming that GP2 does eventually get finished and the 3D engine is as good as eveyone says, what else will Geoff Crammond do with the engine? Apparently he favours a new version of stunt car racer. Personally I would prefer a touring car sim, possibly featuring the British and German series (with all the driving aids simulated). This seems like an obvious progression, a bit like ICR -> NASCAR. The touring car format would make a refreshing change from GP when you can't be bothered with the inticacies and duration of a F1 race. Any comments?

I agree, I have long been a fan of the BTCC and the thought of racing tintops using a Crammond engine does seem very appealing. It would however mean that he would have to trek around all of the British circuits in order to map them. Then again if he can do it for GP 1&2 then why not for this? My only dissapointment would be that there would be no RS500s (assuming the game was based on current regulations). Ho hum, its OK to dream! NS.

This'd be fun.....but a better idea [IMO.....and of course that's what matters! B-) ] would be a return to the rumoured idea that Microprose were chasing with him.....a SuperBike sim. Of course, a 250 GP sim would be even better.....!!! B-) Four Wheels Good, Two Wheels BEST!!! Cheers! --- * RM 1.3 U0414 * Recursive (ri-kur-siv) adj. See "recursive."

I doubt if the 3D Engine designed for simulating F-1 cars can also simulate Touring cars, there are a lot of differences between the behaviour of the 2 types of racing cars. BTW, do you know if I can lockup the brakes in GP2? Mark Yeung

EA showed that they can do a pretty good bike racer in the 3DO and Playstation versions of Road Rash. Even with a digital controller it has a good bike feel. I did hear a rumour of a PC version - if they updated the sim a bit to take advantage of analog controls, and made it it multi-player (especially over Kali) they would have a huge hit. Joe

I wouldn't half mind a BTCC sim from Geoff, and have suggested it in this group before. The GP2 engine allows for superb kerb-hopping, and as that is a major part of super-touring the engine would be ideal. BTW. You can get the BTCC carset for Nascar from The Pits... Don't know if a bike sim has been produced with any credibility.....here's hoping! Cheers! --- * RM 1.3 U0414 * If puns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have puns.

You're right, Road Rash is an arcade game. But it does still have quite a good motorcycle feel. Joe

Of course Geoff's 3D engine can cope with different cars types. You can alter the setup of the car, so it is just a case of altering those parameters outside the range allowed and alter others that you cannot access. I had a version of Revs that drove more like a F1/F3000 car just by altering the code. In fact a touring car sim might be easier graphically because of the covered wheels and simpler body shape. For some years I have thought that a Rally Cross simulator would be brilliant. Lots of power, little grip, bumpy tracks etc. Rich. __ --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------

As long as they've done that I'll probably pick it up. But I would also like to see more (and more realistic) motorcycle games. Joe

I remember a game some time ago called Cycles I believe. By Accolade (sp?) I believe. Used a modified version of there original Grand Prix engine. Its the only bike game i've seen where you see the track from on the bike not floating behind it. Not bad for its time. Robin

Hey Mark Yeung ! You burnt somethin' into my screen ! Why should *THE ENGINE* influence the gameplay ??? You can make a complete different game (of course of the same genre) with the same engine . You only have to change the environmental graphics ! No but do you know whether there's a demo out now ? * * * * * * BYE and always a good connection ! * * * * * * * * * * * * wishes * * * * * * *** W O D A N ***
Yeah I got this game...it runs on an old XT so..it is old...but I thought there were plans for Microprose to release a Bike sim after GP2 based on the same engine. Any news on this??

Yeah, a BTCC sim is what we need! I reckon Geoff probably will do a new Stunt Car, but seeing as the BTCC is one of the best racing series in the world, and THE best touring series in the world I think he should turn his attention to that! -- ___ ___ | \ | \ | \ |_/ | \ _ _ __ | \ _ _ __ _ __ | | / \| | / \/__\ | \ / \\_| . \|_/__\ |/ /\_ \_|___/ \__\_\_/ \____/ \_|___/ \__/ \_/\_/ \____/ / __/
