Nascar problem

5 posts by 4 people · 05 Feb 1996 - 10 Feb 1996

A friend at work has Nascar 1.21 loaded on a 486DX233 w/ 8mgs RAM. 1meg video ram. he does not have a math co-processor. The game will start up and get a lap or to then just lock up. Is the math co-pro required to run the game? we've turned of all of the graphics and sound etc., but no luck. Thanks for any info. He has a 486SX33, 8meg RAM and no co-processor. Does he need a co-pro? I've run Mem-maker with no success. I'm at a loss. Later Larry GO #5

Nascar ran fine (but slowly!) on my 486sx33 so it doesn't need a co-processor - I think very few programs do. I did have lots of trouble getting it to work again after I installed Win95, mainly due to the soundcard drivers, so it could be that. Assuming you are running it under DOS try typing MEM at the DOS prompt and compare the figures with the requirements in the manual. Try making a boot disk (as the manual describes) if you think this could be the problem. David Evans

If you have a steering wheel and pedals and/or an adjustable game card, try turning the game card down. My game card sts itself automaticly on startup then I have to turn it down a little if I don't the game locks up after a few laps, turned down it works great! Blake
