Everyone seems to be getting up to the 195 mark, but I can't get past 192.
With the pre-v1.2 I was able to hit 198, but now with the lower horsepower, I
can't get above 192. What's wrong with my setup?
If you wouldn't mind sharing your setup with me, I would be most appreciative.
Thanks...

was Bill Cranston's site:
http://www.synapse.net/~crankstr/
Not only does he provide the setup info, but he provides a description and
a replay file of the lap. I've seen claims of faster laps, but I haven't
seen better documentation. Just the setup wasn't enough... I had to change my
line to break 192.
Of course, even with all this data, I still can't go as fast as Bill can
with the same setup! I did, however, improve on my previous best with
his setups.
I'm up to 194.2 (in racing conditions) at Talladega which is still short of
Bill's 195.718.

Pardon me, but what is referred to with the "pre-v1.2" statement?
I don't know if it's considered a cheat or not, but with 1 slight modification,
I can reach speeds of 222+mph down the back straight. (And then promptly smash
into the wall 'cause I forgot to hit the brakes...AGAIN!) 8-)

And Joe responded:
With the restrictor plates removed you can. This is a cheat though,
not a feature of the game or reality. The guy's pretty dumb to be
spouting off about it - he knows he cheated because he edited the
track file, and also he's obviouslt not going to be 25 MPH+ better
than anyone else on the planet (what an ego he must be sporting -
strange how rarely that goes hand in hand with intelligence and
capabilities).

And I reply: (Publicly)
I stand corrected! As I said, I didn't know if the modification was
considered a "Cheat". (See the above note) I have been lurking here for a few
weeks and have never seen any mention of this cheat. Sorry if it insulted any
others out there, but I'm not as "Up" on the game as some of you are.

That would be of course be done by removing the restrictor plate. BIG
DEAL!!! I want a setup that can do 197 MPH ****WITH**** the restrictor
Wrong. Yank off the restrictor plate and you're there.
A buck says he's getting e***d and forgetting to turn the wheel.

Fair enough - I apologize if I came down too *** you. I didn't
read your first message as closely as I could've, and should have
noticed you saying you didn't know if it was a cheat or not.
IAC, if you really like speed, you'll have to get Indycar 2. There's a
freeware utility (on the net) for converting tracks back and forth.
There's nothing like cruising down the Talledega back stretch and
topping out at 152 MPH (faster may be possible, haven't played with
the setups much). Especially with the faster game engine in ICR2.
I can't wait to see what Papyrus does next, these are some talented
folks!

Apology accepted. I hated the thought of making enemy's with my first post
to the Newsgroup. 8-)
Come on! I can hardly make a left turn at 222mph, what makes you think I'll
be any better at Right hand turns????? 8-)
