Hidden speech easter eggs in IndyCar Racing II

Players swapped reports of hidden speech in IndyCar Racing II, chiefly the pace car driver exclaiming after being hit at high speed. Others claimed more easter eggs, such as a spectator in a portable toilet at Cleveland and a man relieving himself at Laguna Seca, some of which turned out to be jokes. Posters noted that digital sound and enough memory were needed to hear the speech.

Everyone keeps talking about the hidden sounds, but I've never heard any of them. I've intentionally hit the pace car several times, but nothing. Bob
Yep! Heard it on a pace lap at Cleveland. Got a little to close to the pace car (ok, I hit it) and the little man in the pace car said "What the hell did you just hit?" Haven't heard anything since.

This was noticed a few days after the demo was available from papyrus ftp:, posted here by others. pb

No, it has been mentioned before. As a beta tester, when I got the first beta, I saw the Winnebagos parked around the inside of Michigan. Mentioned to papy that it might be nice to have an easter egg such as an attractive lady sunbathing on the top of one of them (being the dirty gray haired man that I am). Guess the used a more politically correct and humorous idea..

Has anyone noticed the guy in the "Porta-Potty" looking out the door. He's at Cleveland.
Dave Bowers 14 Jan 1996#310863
Has anyone seen the guy at the 'corkscrew' at Laguna yet? Hes taking a whizz in a field behind a wall. If you go up to him in your car he says, "Oops, it dribbled down my leg!" Dave Bowers

I get the screams from the pace car driver every time I hit him. I wonder if this has something to do with the sound card you are running? I've got an AWE32.

Actually it says "what the hell was that". You have to be going pretty fast and really plow into the pace car to hear it. I have not found any others.

I was messing around with my son, and got exactly the same response. It's the only time I've ever got speech!? If I could get more , It would be great!

The same thing happens in Nascar (the voice) but the car just doesn't move.
writes: If you are running with FM sound or whatever (eg. Typing Indycar -f at the DOS prompt) then there won't be any speech. --

You have to be going 100+ mph and hit the pace car before the speech is played. Russ

Hey Rick, are there any more of these (hidden) gags in ICR2 ? BTW, i am able to fly with an Indycar in ICR2, how about that... ---------------------------------------- - This message was brought to you by - - - "Chapo!" ---------------------------------------

Some one said there was a guy taking a leak behind a tree at the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca. I couldn't find him. I think I have been the victim of a cruel joke. :-( At Loudon you can sometimes hear Tony George crying about all the cars that got wrecked at Disney Land. :-p Craig. ************************************************************** * Canberra, Australia * **************************************************************
