Hi! I wonder if Papyrus plans to publish a Formula 1 Game. Wouldn't that be great? :-) have a nice day! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - E-Mail by FunSoft Hamm * UUCP Gateway * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --****ATTENTION****--****ATTENTION****--****ATTENTION****--***ATTENTION*** Your e-mail reply to this message WILL be *automatically* ANONYMIZED.
Hello. Yes, I agree, it would be great. BUT, I think they only stick to stuff that's American. Tom Bromberger.

No way, Geoff Crammond's sim will be the definitive F1 sim. It's gonna ***all over ICR2. Mind you, I wouldn't mind them doing an NATCC [North American Touring Car Championship] game, then you could nip into Paintshop and do a BTCC carset and turn it into a REAL championship.

Yo! Before you go shooting off your mouth, MAYBE you should wait and see how it runs and performs buddy. From what I heard the framerate sux, even on a high powered PC. You have no right to even begin to compare it to Papyrus sims without ever playing it. You may change your tune when you actually get the game, whenever that may be. Oh come on guys (and gals) Papyrus AND Microprose have both released nothing but fine quality racing sims, hell, they're state of the art! This which is better than which has become absurd and just waste space on this forum. Congrats to Geoff Crammond and to David Kaemmer and everyone associated with your great efforts at Papy and Microprose. (you're still not getting my Bud-Light, Johnny!)
: No way, Geoff Crammond's sim will be the definitive F1 sim. It's gonna :***all over ICR2. With this childish attitude, I'm glad I won't have to mix it up with you on the same track when I run the CART/PPG season. But, I may have to watch out for you when I run the F1 season. -- **************************** Michael E. The frame rate is what is being worked on right now. It's apparently improving all the time. Besides, its bound to be better than ICR2, it doesn't involve driving around in circles for 500 laps. However, Papyrus do make great sims, and apart from the bugs, ICR2 is a stormer (I just doubt it will be as good as GP2). I hope Blundell likes roundabouts!!!! --

Besides, its bound to be better than ICR2, it doesn't involve driving around in circles for 500 laps. <<< There is no IndyCar race that involves driving in circles (or ovals, for that matter) for 500 laps. Rick Genter Technical Lead, IndyCar Racing II Papyrus Design Group, Inc.
Detail aside, the validity of the post stands. ICR2 is totally awesome around Detroit, Elkhart etc, but ovals are pretty boring. Ovals must be an American thing, I can't see the attraction. They require a different form of skill I'm sure, just less than road courses in my opinion. Cheers! John -- John Wallace

Please, don't start this discussion on this newsgroup. It is already irritating enough on the Indy and F1 newsgroups..... Harald

I am sure Blundell has switched because he wants some great racing instead of the F1 procession. Cheers. ************************************************************** * Canberra, Australia * **************************************************************

You muppet. The reason he's gone to Indycar is because he's so ***and nobody in F1 will have him. Get it right !! -- The Joker
>: I am sure Blundell has switched because he wants some great racing >: instead of the F1 procession. >More like he couldn't get a drive in Formula 1, so had to take second >best.... And they call us Americans pompous. Evidently Blundell's record-breaking ninety-seven consecutive World Championships weren't enough to spare the man from the clutches of Indycar. I personally think Indycar is a sad joke, but not because it's "second best".....

When you say Muppet are you saying you hold an opinion that is different from mine? Dr Jonathan Palmer repeatedly stated that there were 4 divisions in F1 in 1995. Blundell drove in one of the lesser ones. I believe he is good enough to have been able to have performed better if he was in a Williams or Benetton. Even Herbert won two races. Being good does not guarantee a drive ... $ does. Ask Inoue. My original point was directed to my opinion that F1 had become a procession instead of the closely fought competition it used to be in say 1991 or 1980/81. The big names are gone: Jones, Piquet, Senna, Mansell, Laffite, Villeneuve, Lauda et al. It was the sixth race in 1995 before we actually saw a pass for position on the track instead of in the pits. IndyCar may not have the money or glamorous tracks of F1 but the formula, and even the yellow flags, keeps the racing close and any of 15 drivers could have won in 1995. 9 different winners. Instead of the Schumacher/Hill show. Thanks for listening. A. Muppet.

Not even slightly true - at Argentina Schumacher was passed by both Coulthard and Hill for position. (race 2) But I suppose the fact that I'm having to point this out does at least show that there wasn't a lot of passing going on. But when there was, it was GOOD. Hmmmm, as far as I remember, Schumacher didn't pay much money to Ferrari to employ him, wasn't it the other way around? If a driver is GOOD, he will get a drive. If he is RICH, he will get a drive. If he is a midfield runner, nothing is guaranteed. I suppose you must mean except for both Hill and Coulthard passing Schumacher in Argentina which was only the SECOND race. In addition there was a LOT of racing going on further down the field with LOTS of people passing each other. Cheers! the track instead of in the pits. Actually it was the second race, (Hill passing Schmacher, then Couthard passing Schumacher!) Anyway, isn't this the wrong newsgroup for this kind of thing!! Matt
