I am considering buying NASCAR and will be getting a new PC soon (an
upgrade from my old Atari ST). Can anyone answer some questions for me
please.
1. In NASCAR are you allowed to bump other cars or do they crash with
the slightest touch like in indycar racing?
2. Is it worth buying NASCAR now at bargain prices or waiting until
NASCAR 2 arrives. If the latter, does anyone know a release date yet
and what enhancements are there over version 1.
3. What sort of setup do I need to run SVGA? I am thinking of getting a
Pentium 133MHz, 16-24 megs ram, quad speed CD, and 2-4 megs of VRAM.
Being an utter PC novice, is this enough to satisfy todays games and
those for the next 18 months or so since I don't want to get a PC that
will be out of date next year.
4. Is the NASCAR track pack worth getting?
Any answers posted or e-mailed greatly appreciated.

Bumping is very much allowed.
Get Nascar now--not sure about the release for Nascar 2 (Q296?).
Far too slow :-) Seriously, this would be awesome, but it may be
worth looking at a 3D H/W accel graphics card, or at least waiting a
while until it is apparant which card is going to be successful.
Probably not at first (just too many tracks to get to know), but
certainly after you've made some progress the standard tracks.

Heck ya. Sometimes you can give them a pretty good shove and they'll
take it like a man, but you can't expect anyone to hold on following a
smack to the rump coming out of four at Bristol (apologies to Rusty
aficianados <SP>!).
If you want to race the tracks, get the tracks. I found many of the
extra tracks to be pretty damn challenging, not that the originals
weren't, but they're mostly short tracks/slick tracks. And don't even
get me started on Sears Point.

I haven't had any problems with that. Whether or not they crash
depends on where you hit them, and how hard you hit them. If you hit an
opponent in the rear, not too hard, you'll just see a dent. If you just
bumped somebody on the side in the back, what do you expect? Nascar is
realistic, and they'll go spinning out like in real races.
That should work great. I run Nascar on my old, 486sx/25 and it works in
VGA mode with ten opponents or less. I've played it on a 486dx/66, and
it worked fine with all of the opponents. Any Pentium should work fine.
Yes. You get twice as many tracks to race at. I wish I had it, because
I've only had the game for 9 months, and I'm getting tired of the same
tracks. I wish I could race C***te at night! :-(
