:> :> :>Hi folks, :> :>I just tried to play the demo copy of Electronic Arts' :>"Need for Speed" that I got from their web site (www.ea.com). :>My advice is don't bother to try to download it, the :>file is 29MB in size and once you get it you can't play :>it because the directory structure of the game is all :>messed up. I tried to unravel the puzzle from the error :>messages that it gave me, but to no avail. They also :>have a 3MB demo that suffers from the same problem. I :>hope the full version on CD gets its act together because :>this is going to be one totally awesome sim. with svga :>graphics (if you have a P90+), real engine sounds sampled :>from the actual sports cars, and lots of tracks and :>roads to drive on. Hi.. The 3MB version works just fine! And your right about assuming that it is awesome! It is really incredible! Anyway I didn't dload the version that I got from EA I got it somewhere else but as long as you unzip it with the -d option into a dir it works fine. Jay

I downloaded the 3 MB demo from ftp.ea.com last night, and it worked fine when I used the pkunzip -d option. The first time I unzipped it it didn't work, do I deleted that directory structure and started over with the -d switch. After that, no problems, even in Win95. Hope this helps... You are correct, this game rocks! I can't wait to play the full version. BTW, where did you get the 27 MB demo? ftp.ea.com? what directory? I couldn't find it... Later, Jason Cain
