ICR - is milwaukee asymetric?

5 posts by 5 people · 11 Sep 1995 - 23 Sep 1995

I've noticed something strange while driving at the Milwaukee Mile. My 'car' has great acceleration on the front straight (when going 150 coming out of turn 4, I get up to 175 entering turn 1), making it easy to pass on the front straight. On the back straight the car has very little acceleration (when going 150 coming out of turn 2 the car barely accelerates going on the back straight and only manages perhaps 160 by the time I enter turn 3). It seems as if the track was on a hill such that the back straight is up hill and the front is going downhill. The fact that I easily pass cars on the front whereas the cars catch up to me on the backstraight indicate that this 'phenomenon' is limited to my 'car'. This effect is greatest on full tanks, but it is still there, but to a lesser extent, with only a few gallons in the tank. Have others noticed this? Am I just a rotten driver (I drive the circuit in a symetric fashion so I don't think that it is something I am doing ...)? Is this a 'design feature' (aka bug) in ICR? thanks in advance for any useful advice or information! ------------------------------------------------------------- Michael F. I noticed the same thing and I THINK it has to do with wind. While your car will be slowed down while driving into the wind, the computer cars seem to be unaffected. I now set every race for "no wind".

This most likely is caused by the wind having no effect on the computer cars. It's the same on all of the tracks, but in Milwaukee it's most noticeable Tommi Pajari

I too have noticed this "bug" in the game in some of the tracks. Although a few of the tracks are identical in 1&2 as in 3&4 it doesn't reflect that in the game, I actually like it that way to make it a "little" more realistic. Cuz' in "real" racing the two sets of turns may be identical, but the surface & traction through the turns could still be quite different, giving each turn a different feel. I just wish that Papyrus could have designed it to where the tracks would get slicker as the race wore on, but creating a cushion that was fast & you'd have to stay in it. If you came in too high and went into the marbles it would be "hello wal!!" BOOM!

>I just Now there's a good idea! I've always wondered how those skid marks got on the track before the race! It would be a major plus if papyrus would make the skid marks darker and the traction change as the race went on. Or if when a car spins off, the *** marks are left and the tires get bald spots, or blow.
