I guess you'll be happy to know that Mansell will be driving the #7
McLaren.

Mansell just signed with McClaren (sp). I hear that Hakkinen is not to
pleased being bumped to second driver.

Why don't you check rec.autos.sport.f1. I think it would be
more helpful to you. To answer your question, no, Mansell will drive
for McLaren in 1995. :)

Well, at least in Finnish TV, Hakkinen was quite pleased having Mansell
as his team-mate because it will give extra kick to the whole team.

The Marlboro McLaren Mercedes team have nominated Mika Hakkinen
and Nigel Mansell as their race drivers for the 1995 FlA Formula One
World Championship, and British F3 Champion Jan Magnussen as their
test driver.
Mika Hakkinen will start his second full season for the Marlboro McLaren
team. Since his debut at the 1993 Portuguese Grand Prix, the 26-year-old
Finnish driver has scored 43pts for the team and finished 4th in the 1994
Drivers Championship. Mika is progressing all the time", said McLaren's
Managing Director Ron Dennis. "In 1994, he confirmed his potential,
combining his natural talent and speed with a growing maturity. He has
rapidly become a strong asset for the team."
Nigel Mansell, the 1992 F1 World Champion, returned to Formula One in
1994 after winning the 1993 Indy Car World Series. The Englishman
competed in four Grands Prix, winning the Australian race in impressive
style, and produced some of the most exciting moments of the 1994
season. "We are delighted to welcome Nigel to the team", commented
Ron Dennis. "Over the years, he has lost none of his enthusiasm for the
sport, and his wealth of experience will be invaluable to us as we start
our association with Mercedes. He will also make an ideal team mate for
Mika, who will be able to measure himself against an established race
winner."
"For us it is great to have the talent of Mika Hakkinen as well as the
experience of Nigel Mansell, who personifies the will to succeed,"
commented Norbert Haug, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. "We are
also delighted to have a young talent like Jan Magnussen, who will
complement his Marlboro McLaren Mercedes testing obligations with a
DTM Mercedes works drive."
Jan Magnussen joins the team after an outstanding season in the 1994
British F3 Championship, when he clinched the title with a record 14 wins
out of 18 races. The 21-year-old Danish driver had a successful outing in
the McLaren MP4/9 at Estoril last October, and impressed the team with
his natural speed and positive attitude.

I'm sorry for the team!!! One thing is for sure, though. Mansell will have
to watch out for Mikka! The old man has NO, I repeat, NO chance at ALL!!!
He belongs to the graveyard, join Senna.
Dave.
> I'm NOT a Mansell cheerleader at all, but your above remark was in very
> poor taste!
Yeah well sorry I offended anyone. Didn't mean to.

THAT is the Lowest. You owe everyone on this group and on the
F-1 group an apology. I am a Mansell fan, but wishing Death upon
anyone is too low, especially after 1994. What Happened?!
F-1 = Senna, Ratzenberger(sp?)
Nascar = The drivers killed practicing for Daytona (I am sorry I cannot
remember their names), Ernie Irvan.
IndyCar = Was fortunate enough to not have anyone critically injured.
YOU owe these groups an apology, RIGHT NOW!!!

I completely agree to remark that an F1 driver should die is way out of order
personally i would question whether he (dave) is a fan or not. Any true fan
would like to forget 1994, and would also hope that it NEVER happens again.

Guys, guys, guys!!!! Hey, If you would have read one of my posts after
this, I said that I did not mean to HARM Senna, I was not taking
advantage of Senna's death and I DO NOT WANT DRIVERS TO DIE. In fact, I
even hate it when accidents happen!!! I'm against any kind of *** in
racing. Except for those tiny incidents due to a little more aggressive
racing (i.e. Senna, Mike A., Hakkinen, Alesi, etc. - that is from my
point of view, and in fact I like the more aggressive drivers 'cause they
show risk and the WILL - also see Robby Gordon and Paul Tracy).
So, please, if I confused you or offended you I would to appologize.
That involves ANYBODY that was offended. That article was not talking
about A.S. AT ALL!!!!
And if you think I like racers dying - you're wrong. I raced myself, I
lost a friend - team mate. And I do not wish to see this kind of things
happen. Although Senna was not my favorite racer, I was horrified by the
accident AND by the results of the followed analysis.
I hope this will clear up all misunderstandings.
Thank you and I appologize again.
Dave.
THAT's NOT TRUE!!!! There was no critical injuries because the IndyCar
officials and 'rule makers' have MORE brains then the FIA!!!!
That's all I gotta say!
That's good! Never say anything again! FFF!

Normally I just read and don't post, but I can't leave this one alone.
First I agree with everyone else who has posted objecting to the "Join
Senna" remark. I can only hope that its just rhetoric that got out of
line and way out of line at that.
Second, didn't Mansell win the last race last year, or at least do very
well in it. Anyone who discounts Nigel Mansell is making a BIG mistake.
That's not to say that Mikka won't push him, but that's because Mikka is
a good driver, not because Nigel isn't. I'll make a prediction. If
those Mercedes engines are anything at all, then Nigel Mansell will find
a way to wrestle that car to at least one win this year.
