A friend and I have been trying to get NASCAR to work via modem, with
miserable results. We did get it to work over a direct connect serial
cable, but can not get modem working. He has a P90 and I have a 486dx2/66.
He has a USR 28.8k modem (supported in the modem setup strings), and I have
a USR 14.4k (also in the setup menu). I call him since the directions say
that the answering machine should be the faster of the two.
We get a 'Connect 14400' string on both ends, and the it pops up a screen
saying 'Waiting for Remote' on both systems. And we wait.. and wait.. and
wait.. and nothing ever happens. If he cancels, and I get a line saying
'Latency = 0.03' or something close to that after he hangs up.
Why would BOTH systems be waiting for remote? I'm stumped. Would
appreciate any help you guys can offer. I really love the game, and want
to race 2 player some.
Thanks in advance.
