For general information purposes of course (and in case you're not
around when the next update comes along), how about a little
background information on how this works and how these particular byte
patterns were discovered (i.e. method and process).
The "patch" works. But I'm sure several people would like to hear the
details behind it.
thanks in advance

Ok, here's a text file which should clarify things for all of you.
= ICR105.TXT ==========
WARNING!!
This information is only to be used by legal owners of Indycar
Racing. It should not be used to pirate the program.
The patch will cause the same word to be requested every time.
The word is not listed here, since any legal owner has the
manual and certainly wouldn't mind looking up just one more
word. Right? Please do not post the word or give it out to
people not owning the game.

Just load up your favorite hex editor and once in it, load
the file indycar.exe. This indycar.exe MUST be v1.05.
If you have v1.04 and would like a similar crack for it,
just email me.
Anyway, in the hex editor, use find or search command to locate
the search string in the indycar.exe file and replace that string
with the 'change to:' string. That should do it.
Next time you run indycar the game asks for a password.
Look it up from your manual and memorize it, because from
now on, the game always asks for the same word.
Any problems, feel free to email me.
