I just upgraded to QEMM 7.03 (from 6.xx) and it broke Indycar.
I get the following error message:
DOS/16M error: [23] no memory for VCPI page table.
When I start QEMM 7.03 with the EMS:N parameter, Indycar works
but then all my games that use expanded memory are broken.
Any ideas, experts??
Thanks
Only to re-consider using DOS 6.xx's EMM386...

one of my DOS 6.2 bootups specifically for IndyCar. I believe it sets
the TEMP and LASTDRIVE parameters in CONFIG.SYS, and (maybe) loads a
virus program in the AUTOEXEC, and that's all. Apparently IndyCar has
its own memory manager, sound drivers, etc. Give that a try.

I run indycar with Qemm version 7.03 as my memory manager and have had no
problems. I don't know if this could be the problem but here goes...
Indycar is a "dos protected mode interface program" and, as I understand it,
it provides its own software to implement this memory business. With qemm
version 7 there is also a dos protected mode interface (It is loaded in your
config.sys file as qdpmi.sys; it wasn't included in version 6). I long ago
rem'ed out that line of my config.sys file because I couldn't run some program
that used a dos protected mode interface. Hence, I can run indycar racing
just fine. You might try removeing the line from your config.sys that loads
the qemm dos protected mode interface and see what happens!
Good luck...

I forgot to note that Indycar works perfectly with QEMM 6.xx.
It only breaks under QEMM 7.03.

Even though I would love to be able to not have to get some effort together to
press Ctrl-Alt-Del I have to. I do use QEMM and ICR and Doom do load up but
in ICR I don't have enough memory to run any tracks. That's the only reason I
find it a good idea to reboot. Most people probably have 4mb RAM so if they
have QEMM loaded, they most likely have lots of device drivers or TSR's loaded
so that the DOS/4GW games would not work. I guess you're lucky enough to have
the obligatory four megs RAM. :)

Just wanted to add that it is called QDPMI.
