I notice that there are editors for World Circuit that appear to
allow users to alter facets of the simulation. I'm new to this group and
the simulation, but I wonder if there is a way to alter the AutoBraking so
as to brake later. ANother possibility would be to have the braking on a
separate key (not the joystick).
Thanks

Of course, one way to solve this problem is to alter your OWN setups so that
you have to brake earlier... e.g. by putting your brake balance way forward.
I'm pretty certain that it's possible to totally match the
computer cars' performances with your car, using WCF1GP.EXE and F1ED.EXE,
together with altering your own setups.
So it's not a problem, really.

That's something I've been wondering about.... Brake Balance....
I've seen a couple of hint files with "good" setups for WC cars but what
bugged me was that the brake balance was set to the REAR! Now from what I
read in the manual it suggests that due to the weight transfer caused by
braking of more weight on the front wheels there should be more brake
power to the front... thus I've always set brake balance to the front.
Puzzling....

Too right!! I've thought long and hard about this, and it just doesn't make sense
AT ALL! When the brakes are set to the rear, it's very easy to lose control of the car completely
under braking, as you see to lose the back end of the car- just as one would expect with a very
forward setting- it looks as though they've just got it the wrong way around. Looks like even a
minor (or major) deity such as Geoff Crammond can make mistakes...

The new "tire grip" editor allows you to improve the braking of the
computer
cars to a degree that will match your own braking - you won't be able to
pass at every corner anymore. It's called WCF1GP.zip and can be ftp'd
from didnt.doit.wisc.edu along with all the other editors.
You should be able to create computer cars that's kick your ***in every
respect, not just horsepower.

In my experience, it doesn't have quite enough effect, though. In order to get the computer
cars braking late enough, their grip is so great everywhere else that they're much
quicker than you all over the rest of the course- so the only way to match BOTH
braking distances AND cornering speeds is to increase your own braking distances.
I think!
