I have a 486 with 4MB memory. ICR informs that there is not enough memory
to run. Does it need EMS or just 8MB's memory??

If you have DOS 6. Just bypass the startup files [f5] when you boot up.
Also, make sure you have the latest patch, which uses memory a different
way than the origional version.
I had this same problem.
I had to do the following things!
1.) Make boot disk with the ABSOLUTE minimum needed to run your system
for the game. This should allow you to at least run the game. Some
tracks might not load. You can play with graphic options and realism
options (i.e # of opponents) to get more memory.
2.) Get Version 1.02 upgrade available via anonymous FTP from Papyrus!
FTP to world.std.com
CD to vendors/papyrus
There they be....
