I was quite interested on the Rally game discussion. My understanding is that the title of the game is Network Q Rally. Am I correct? Would any fellow Canadians know if the game has been brought to Canada yet? I haven't seen it in any of the software stores I've been too here in Montreal. ---------------- Santiago Oleas Montreal, Canada

Wow, a non Indycar posting, hold on I'll just save this off............... Sorry, I don't know much about the game but it has got severely differing reviews, beware, some people think you are talking about an Accollade game which is supposed to be rubbish and may get the two game confused. The only other thing I know about it is that with a soundblaster card, your co-driver will shout out corners etc!

I asked at A-Plus Software and they said they would check through their Accolade distributer. Stephen

I noticed someone mention he would ask their Accolaide dealer about it. I think I'll try to find the time to go to one of Montreal's largest software stores and see if they can give me some insight. I am very intersted in getting this game. ---------------- Santiago Oleas Montreal, Canada

Hurrah, hurrah somebody's been listening! One of the games is called RAC Network Q Rally (Or very similar) is new out (released in November) and is full price #35 UKpounds. The other is by Accolade, is an old game re-released and costs #10 Hope this helps, I don't know who wrote the first game and it may well have been Accolade but I doubt it severely, I am of course assuming that the Accolade game is budget in Canada, since if it is full price that would explain a lot of the confusion, but it is 4 years old. The Network Q game has a picture of an Escort Cosworth on the front over here, and the Accolade has a picture of a Sierra Cosworth! Good Luck......

I went down to my local software store last night and checkit out what we are getting in the States. The big title is RALLY!. The publisher is Accolade. In small type at the top of the box is the logo Network Q RAC Rally (or something like that). One place wanted $39 and another wanted $44 for the package. : Hope this helps, I don't know who wrote the first game and it may well have : been Accolade but I doubt it severely, I am of course assuming that the : Accolade game is budget in Canada, since if it is full price that would : explain a lot of the confusion, but it is 4 years old. It has the Sierra Cosworth (one of the reasons I like it - I rally an American Sierra over here). The games plays as RHD. The one in the store shows examples with LHD, says you can choose your car from several possibilities, and has the picture of the Cosworth Escort on the cover. It says that scenes are DIGITIZED from the actual rally, but the demo pictures on the back show something similar to the original game. The game says you need at least a 386 machine, but recommends a 486/66 DX and a Soundblaster PRO. This would seem to indicate that we are all talking about the same game. So what gives? I suspect that we have a problem with expectations from the Indy GP crowd vs those who have used the earlier rally game. I am most concerned about those that report joystick sensitivity problems. There's no calibration available? Personally, I preferred keyboard control foor the origiinal rally game anyway. I still haven't bought it. But I think I might, and my confusion factor is going down now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't understand what you mean by this. Would you mind explaining? So, if I understand you correctly the RAC Network Q Rally game should be better. (Sounblaster et al.) I'll look for the Escort Cosworth than! Luckily for me I just got a JPG of one. We don't get Cosworths on this side of the pond although I have seen pics of them in Rally form. ---------------- Santiago Oleas Montreal, Canada

Full price games cost #40 over here, but after a few years they get re-released without all the fancy packaging at #10, these are known as budget games. Unfortunately for me it turns out that both the old Accolade game and the Network Q game were written by Accolade, and I hadn't noticed, (looks sheepish!) So the Accolade thing cant be used for telling the difference, though as far as I know the Escort/Sierra, Full Price/Budget Accolade/Network Q things should be enough, opinions still seem to vary wildly about the gam so try before you buy! SHOULD be better, but I would try an play it first some people hate it, whilst others love it! Poor you, how can you live without knowing that all the spare plastic in the world goes into its rear spoiler! By the way, where did you get the picture?! Gordon

I got the JPG in alt.binaries.pictures.misc. If you don't get it I'll look into trying to uuencode it and sending it to your e-mail address. I've only decoded, never encoded. ---------------- Santiago Oleas Montreal, Canada

I just purchased both the Network Q Rally game, and the Indycar Racing. They are both excellent games, but unfortunately, they both have the annoying doc check that forces me to keep a 4-foot stack of manuals next to my desk, in case I want to play one of my games. If anyone knows of a crack for these, could you please tell me where I can obtain them. I can (& will) provide proof-of-purchase if need be, but I'm running out of room for manuals. It would be different if the manuals were useful for something other than just getting the game running <g>. Thanks, Randy

>Would any fellow Canadians know if the game has >been brought to Canada yet? I haven't seen it >in any of the software stores I've been too >here in Montreal. I don't know about there, but I had a hard time finding it down here in the US. I saw it at one place only, and they seemed to only have one copy. So I bought it. I ended up returning it a few days later for several reasons. First of all, my soundblaster wouldn't work with it. Secondly it would crash all the time. Thirdly, it had manual based copy protection. And fourthly when I called tech support it seemed that the guys major interest was in giving me something to try and getting me off the line (this was on my dime even). I tried the things he suggested while holding him on the line. After several things not working, he said I needed to create an un-double spaced partition on my drive. My response was 'This is only a game'. I was completely tired of it after about the first half hour of playing it anyway (it's easy to get tired of it if it crashes on you all the time). Indy Car however is most excelent! Sean -- "The great thing about Meat Loaf is he's his own special effect." -- J.S. "The big bad wolf, he learned the rule. You gotta get hot to play real cool." I got gasoline from 7-11 and my car stopped running. New gas, ran fine.
