Hi folks,
has anybody experimented with tyre wear in the 1979 mod for rF? What
would be a decent setting to force the aliens to pit for tyres in a
40-50 minute race, while careful drivers could make them last the entire
run? Does tyre wear change with the modelled grip level of a track or is
it the same across original and converted tracks?
All the best & thanks in advance for your comments,
Uwe
PS: We'll be starting an rF 1979 mini season consisting of nine races
(by-weekly every Saturday starting Sept. 9th, race start at 16:00 GMT),
so if you're interested in joining, please get in touch at the reply-to:
address above so we can sort out the details.

You probably already know this, but teams didn't pit in 79 unless there
was some sort of problem.

In addition to that, I'm not really sure there's a way to increase tire
wear for "aliens" since chances are they're not sliding the car around
or locking brakes or generating wheelspin like most non-aliens do.

Hi Jason,
we tried some runs at 4x last night, and it seems like tyre wear for
race tyres isn't even modelled (at 10x, qualis die after half a lap, but
at 4x, race tyres are still shiny after 20 laps).
Thanks for your comments, looks like we'll have to go for fuel usage
then if we want to force a pit stop (and yes, I was made aware meantime
that in 1979, there were no pitstops ;-)
cheers, Uwe
