If I recall, there is a way to drive through it. If its the same one were
talking about (blocks the bridge in both directions), I believe you can start
in the left lane and cut hard towards the right and there is a path you can
take. Otherwise, you can just power through it, assuming you don't have too
much damage. There is probably another way to go, but I am not sure if you
need to.
If you are playing with the cops in the default "Medium" difficulty mode,
there will usually be small gaps between some of the cops cars. When you hit
these just right, you can zip through these with little contact to damage
your car or slow you down. If you play on the "Hard" setting, they fill in
these gaps with cars just behind the normal ones. It's still the way to go,
but you'll pick up more damage - try slowing down as much as possible before
using your fender to gently insist that they get out of your way...

Yeah, I just did that last night. If the roadblocks are across a
double-lane road, usually they'll leave a space in the median.
Often, it seems that roadblocks actually help if you can squeeze
through at speed, since the cop tailing you usually can't. Just watch
for the head-on collision potential as you approach a roadblock--
seems there is usually a cop car coming full speed right in front of
the block.
--mK, just happy to have passed that pesky driving test!

I agree: both in Midtown Madness and Driver, I'm a law abiding citizen
for 30 seconds or so. After that, I get bored by red lights and stop
signs and just ignore them. ;)
OTOH, the cops in Driver are pretty forgiving: they don't mind if you
run across stop signs or zoom by them going 59 mph on the freeway
driving beween the lanes. What they don't like is bumping other cars,
going faster than 60 mph, smoking your tires, and driving on the lawn.
Everything else seems to be excusable... :)

I like sneaking past them "acting casual" (flashback to high school

to know who you are right off the bat.
Still it's just too much fun flinging that boat around corners, power
sliding through intersections. I'll have to look into changing the
timer for missions... hell just a general 15 to 30 seconds more would
be enough to keep the challenge without the consolitis

I've actually flew past a cop at an intersection going about 70mph,
and he totally missed me. Granted, his "view cone" was small at the
time, but I definitely entered into it as I sailed on by. Maybe he
was blinking at the time :)...
For me, the most exhilerating part is seeing a cop coming up FAST in
the rearview, and looking frantically for narrow passages to lose
him... The San Francisco survival is incredible (I think my current
default car/setting record is about 54 seconds!).
