Re: AMA Superbike Won't Run

I get the same results with my Voodoo 3; only "primary display driver" listed, NO video modes to choose from, and a crash on loading. I tried typing the mode in, but no luck. It just doesn't seem to recognize the video card at all, even though the readme states the game has been tested on ALL 3DFX cards. The video card brand/model isn't the issue, I'm sure. I've emailed Motorsims on it and checked their technical forums, but nothing so far...... Still waiting for a look at this much-maligned thing, Steve B. > > Peter H <[email hidden]> wrote in message > > news:7to6rv$r3g$[email hidden]... > > > Hi all, > > > Downloaded the demo and everything went fine on installation and after > > > using the online update process until I tried to configure my graphics > > > card (which is a Guillemot Phoenix Maxi Gamer Voodoo Banshee 16mbcard).

Thanks Chris, I didn't think my V3(w/latest drivers) was likely to be the problem. My money's riding on DX7. Still haven't heard anything from Motorsims' tech support on it, so I guess I'll leave AMA Superbike alone for now. (especially since one of my LWF's paddle shifters has decided to head south on me) Cheers, Steve B. I have had the card for around about 10 months and so far this is the only game that has had any problems. Even on my under-powered system I still get decent performance in all the sims I play (GPL, SCGT, Viper, etc). Considering all the problems I have read about on here about most other cards I am more than happy with my Banshee, a new card just isn't a viable option in this current machine. Steve, For reference I had a Voodoo3 3000 installed on a machine and it worked just fine with AMA. Used the latest reference drivers from 3dfx. Just to let youi know that I got another reply from Motorsims yesterday and the answer they gave this time was as follows:- OK Let's try this. Go into C:\games\motorsims\amasuperbike. Double click the file d3d.ini (configuration settings). It will open in notebook. Replace the following files with the ones that are already there. VIDMODE_COLORDEPTH 16 VIDMODE_HEIGHT 600 VIDMODE_WIDTH 800 If your problem is the same as the one I had the above will look like this:- VIDMODE_COLORDEPTH 0 VIDMODE_HEIGHT 0 VIDMODE_WIDTH 0 I made the changes and everything was fine so hopefully it will work for you also. We run a whole slew of V3's here and have seen no problems.
