I have played it maybe 2 hours since the day I got it. I thought things had cleared up (after I turned almost everything off and raced at small tracks) but it continues to happen. I haven't tried 640x480 yet and have no plans to. I can run Half Life/Rogue Spear and many other games at 1024x768 and there is no reason why I should need to go back to such a low resolution. The minimum requirements for the game are a p166//32MB. I have a celeron 400/128MB and there is really no reason why it shouldn't work fine. I was going to return it but the store I bought it from would not accept opened software and there wasn't even a demo to try out ahead of time.

Sometimes setting skid marks buffer to "low" helps a lot. Jeff Szarka <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

That actually does seem to help a lot but the problem is the stutters tend to happen the worse when I am inside another car and the car tends to jump up and that causes us to wreck.

I also see lots of stuttering. My specs are: Celery 300/OC-450 128MB RAM Win98 Vodoo3 2000 12MB Saitek FF wheel (MS FF wheel guts) SB32 PnP sound card I've turned off AA, and the stuttering is pretty bad. I've got most graphics turned on (whatever the program set up as default according to my processor speed). I've played with turning FF on/off, but haven't seen much difference. Also, I've got the latest 3DFx reference drivers and DX7.0 When I'm running, the track/graphics seem to jerk somewhat as they stream towards me. The framerate counter usually stays in the 30(30) range - sometimes dipping towards the 27/28 range. I've got Asphalt Textures turning off at 26FPS, and I rarely see the texture disappear (maybe at the start of a full field). Also, got 16 cars ahead, 3 behind, full sound, 6 draw ahead, and full skid marks memory. Any clues or do I just need better processor... john wehman wrote in message <[email hidden]>... >Saitek FF wheel (MS FF wheel guts) >SB32 PnP sound card It would be interesting to see if disabling your soundcard would make a diff. Papy has given a list of CPU cycles per FF command, per wheel. The TM was 1.5 mil CPU cycles while the MS was something like 500K. The Logitech FF was 50K cpu cycles. It could be your wheel or your soundcard especially if the card is not a PCI soundcard. -- Header address intentionally scrambled to ward off the spamming hordes. cisko [AT] ix [DOT] netcom [DOT] com

I've got a P2-350 and here's what works for me: 12 Cars ahead 3 Behind 3 Draw Ahead
